Going to phone pcworld techguys to find out, If the kit does not require any specific drivers i.e pc, then i don`t see any reason why it wont work on the on the tf range...

Note, This device has its own power supply...

I don't think there are any kind of embedded drivers in Android for DVD drives

Plus, the PCWorld guys are usually pretty useless and have no idea what you are talking about

Wozza365, If no drivers are required it would make it a upnp device, So it should work out of the box. As for the Tech guys, Your are of course right...

    Although you could be right...

The drive is ultimately designed for PCs, not android tablets. Besides, even if the device works in dvd mode, there is no android app that can play a dvd disc directly.

Hi Goodintentions, just wondering where in the file manager you navigated to you locate your .vob files on the DVD? Should it be plainly obvious? Im wondering if the se-218 has issues with ICS and the tf700. Im happy you were able to get this to work, please give me a hand! Cant wait to join you!

Yes I do. It says mount external storage, which is promising. But when I press that it only extremely briefly flashes in my notification tray "preparing external storage" ...and then nothing happens. I can keep hitting mount and this is all that occurs. No where to be found in the file browser. Just quickly, do I need to be rooted and create a directory for the mount to occur in? Or am I way off there.

You do not need root. You must have skipped #3 and #4 in my guide in the original post. Please re-read the original post.
