Not sure what file or files on the SD is/are causing this. Any suggestions on where to see the file layout on the SD, the 700 isn't exactly easy to see where is what.

The System Update should be under settings - about tablet first thing on the list.
Try a different microSD card would be my suggestion to your second question.

Thanks for the tip about the sd, I'll try that. As to the about - update mine has 'status' as the first item followed by 'Legal Information' !! Nothing nder any of the headings that I can find.

I can't remember exactly what the menu headings are, but you should look in Settings, About Tablet & then you are looking for something like "system update" or "firmware update". When you tap that option, you will find the option for "check for update".

When you have found that option, if you don't get an update then try going to settings, apps, all (swipe right to left until you see the "all" listing).
Find two apps - DMclient & CMclient. For each of them, clear cache, clear data & force close
    Power off your TF
Cold boot (see the link in my signature) your TF

Now try checking for an update again. If there is still nothing reported, leave it for a day or so & try again as with the holidays, the Asus servers might be down.

    All the best

Thanks for the info. I've been through the dmclient cmclient routine (following your advices, tnks) and nothing has happened. In my attempts to get 4.2 I've got as far as the little icon guy seeming to start the update but he always falls over, literally, after a few seconds. Ho-hum.

The about - update thing is just frustrating.....I'll have a a try with a new SD card.

    Hi,
I recently get a Memo pad FHD 10 , the android version is 4.2.2 .according asus site there is an update (4.3) for this android sku version ( ww_ ). I read this useful topic and think update should be applied like the guide that described here. since now sounds like good!
there is a section in asus download center named " kernel source code " , do I need download it too or when I applied new android version , the kernel automatically upgraded during installing new android ?
OK let have a summary :

a- does upgrading memo pad FHD 10 process is like other asus devices that described in this topic?
c does it necessary wipe data before and after upgrading android version during installing process (from cold boot menu)?
c- what about kernel version , does it come automatically with new android installed ? or it need manually applied ?

    Thanks

    New update:
ASUS MEMo Pad FHD 10 Firmware: V5.0.9 Only for WW SKU (Android 4.3)

    Welcome to the forum joop10

To answer your questions (but not in the same order )...
    1) Yes, the process is the same as far as I am aware.
    2) You do not need to download the kernel separately - all Asus firmwares are complete in themselves and should be installed as they get pushed to you
    3) As the guide states, you do not have to do a "wipe data" (Factory Reset) - you might be OK with the update as it is, but many of us have experienced that the overall benefits of doing so far outweigh the time it takes. As the guide says.... Apply/install the update - remember to backup anything you want to keep - then do the Factory Reset (or wipe data from the key combinations if you prefer) & proceed as if you had just bought your device but it will have the newest 4.3 OS on it. All your apps (even paid for ones) will be re-installable from the Play Store as they are attached to your Google account, not your device.

    All the best
