Re: [GUIDE] Transferring files to and from your Transformer

Check out X-Link on Google Play Store. It's a nice way to transfer files over WiFi that works not only for PC transfers but also transfers to other Android devices. Its PC client can even be used for PC to PC file transfers over WiFi.

Transferring files from (Windows) PC to TF300TG

What is the easiest method to transfer files (word and pdf files) from a Windows PC to my TF300TG

I know I could email them (attached to an email) to my gmail account but I have over 6MB of files.

Not sure if I copy them to an SD or USB memory stick if they will be readable on the TF300TG

Also not sure if I could network my TF300TG to my PC (via WiFi)

I have read that a PC and an android device can be connected together with a usb cable - not sure about that.

    Thanks

    Hello again JP

I have merged your new thread / post on this oft asked question to this thread (leaving a temporary redirect to help you find it ) which covers the subject in some detail. We do ask that members search before starting new threads as it does save a lot of duplication on the forum - the links in my signature are a good place to start as is this section for Guides, Tips etc.

As long as you have a PDF reader app & a Word reading/editing app - both of which come as standard on your device, you should have no trouble reading your files.

If you take a look in the applications section of the forum, you will find there are many other apps that folks recommend - an Office type app which a lot use is Kingsoft Office. Adobe Reader is probably the defacto standard for PDF files. Both apps are free from the Play Store.

    Thanks for the advice

I wasn't after a PDF reader and never said that I was. I had already downloaded and installed one.

I also thought that I had searched the forum for similar question but maybe I had worded the search incorrectly or I am thinking of another question I had. I normally do searches as I have been using forums at many web sites for some years.

I will have a look at X-Link and also Kingsoft Office - thanks again for that.

I have used the cable used for charging to connect to my PC and was able to transfer files very easily.

I had not considered this cable as I thought that it was only for charging - it has 2 uses, great!

It's all good now. So easy using the recharging (usb) cable

It's a shame that the user manual isn't more informative.

    Welcome to the forum

There is a cable/adapter (OTG) that will connect to the power port and allow you to connect the USB drive. See this link as an example Amazon.com: Patazon 40Pin Usb 3.0 Otg Host Adapter For Asus Eee Pad Transformer Tf101 Prime Tf201 Tf300 Infinity Tf700: Computers & Accessories

    Transferring pictures

I'm using USB cable to back up my tablet to pc. It seems that all the pictures in my gallery are found in local library images but I can't find a way to copy that information to internal storage so that I can send it to my pc. Is there an easy way to do this?

Thanks in advance of any help...I don't want to lose these priceless pics.

My best suggestion if you want to be certain to save those pics is to install DropBox. Also you should be able to see them and use your Windows Explorer to copy them using AirDroid. You won't find them in a Gallery folder, those are only cached images of the photos that are somewhere else, like in the DCIM folder.
