Well got my 300T yesterday. Charged it for 8.5 hours powered down. We will see.

When shoud I charge a whole cycle again?
When the tablet is saying to connect the charger (I guess that will be 15%)?
Or as empty as possible, say 5%?

And.. again powered off? Or from now on, just in stanbby mode?

Maybe this is asked in this thread, but I didn't find it on some random pages.

I ordered my TF300T and downloaded the manual and came to this forum. Great I found it.

I really would like to know HOW to charge it for before the first time?

Plug in power, tablet turns on:
1. Power it completely off again (holding power button) and let it charge for 8 hours powered down (as I understood it charges in On and Off mode).
2. Turn it off again (standby I guess). And let it charge for 8 hours.
3. Just use the tablet, do the settings and play with it. But leave it connected to the power adapter for 8 hours. (Although this is not quite BEFORE the first use)

I read many (somewhat older) topics about battery draining. But what are normal, average values for the battery to drop.
My settings are default for the 300T without dock. So it turns off wifi in sleep mode.

Pad was turned of for about 10 hours. 49% when I set it into standby and after 10 hours it was 44%.
Is 5% normal? And does it make difference when the battery is 50% or 100%? I mean should it drop 5% in both cases?

Also, it is the very first time I use the tablet after a correct "charge min. 8 hours before first use".
Does it get a bit better after the 3 full "learning" charges?

We try to keep the forum organised so that new members do not find lots & lots of duplicated threads (especially on frequently asked questions) as that means the information gets very fragmented. Hence the move of your post to this thread

I would say that a 5% drop after 10 hours is within the normal range. My tf101 drops 2-3% when asleep in 7 hours.

Yes the %age figure will remain the same - the drop is as a proportion of the full battery

The battery life of any lithium battery will improve after 3-5 full charge cycles (10-15% to full). I would recommend allowing your tablet to use its battery down to those lower levels for the first 3-5 charges. After that, when convenient, I would charge when the level drops to no lower than 40%, or (probably more convenient) just pop the device on to charge every night while you are asleep. I do that with all the tablets I have that are my "main devices" at the time & I have always had excellent battery life & longevity.

Installed cpu spy and I see it is in deep sleep for much hours. So should installing airplane mode (by DON) really help that much?

I did some testing to ping the tablet from a pc in my network. And it takes about 4 minutes after pressing the power button, before I can't ping the tablet anymore.
I it seems to go in deep sleep after say 5 minutes?

bit OT: I have some doubts about the ASUS taskmanager. Does it really stop the apps? Is there an other taskmanager which is better (ES taskmanager). Or..via Developer Options setting the background apps to max 4?

You are welcome JeeGee - it is nice to have an interested & friendly new member on the forum. To answer your further questions...

I never found the need to use the AutoAirplaneMode app - I have always been happy with be default settings.

Going to deep sleep after 5 minutes is absolutely fine.

Task Management is best left to the Android OS - closing apps in that way (using a Task Manager or App Killer) actually increases battery use, rather than reducing it. There is a thread linked from the Master Help Guide that covers that entire subject. Additionally, while I know some folks find the limiting of background apps in the Dev Settings to be useful, I never have. So I guess that choice is up to you.
