Only the dock is being recharged, while the tablet battery continues to drain. The dock is now at 100% but the tablet has been discharging and is now down to 53%. Even if I unplug the AC power from the dock the tablet does not start to charge. It seems that the only way for me to charge the tablet now is by plugging it in directly, so I have to charge the dock and tablet separately. The LED which shows that the device is charging will come on on the dock, but not on the tablet while it is docked. If I plug the tablet in without the dock then everything seems to work (charging and LED). Another thing slightly disconcerting is that if I apply just the slightest pressure to the back of the tablet while it is docked the LED does come on, but it does not show that the device is charging (not in the widget, statusbar, or battery part of the settings menu). If I put a light weight book or my cell phone on top of the tablet and closed dock, and leave it for a few hours and it seems that both actually charged some when I do. What gives? Is this a problem with the tablet or the dock? I think and hope that it is just a poor connector on the dock.

I agree with your diagnosis Chris - I think you may have to contact Asus & arrange for your device to be looked at under warranty

    Thanks for that Much appreciated.

To be honest, I'm not sure & as I don't own a dock I can't experiment. If the dock does charge, you will be able to test it for yourself, of course, why not connect it up & see if it does. It will likely only charge at 2-3% an hour if it does, but it may need the 15v signal from the wall charger. Let us know what you find out here, if you would be so kind.

    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum

As you have a tf300, but posted in the tf101 section I had to move your post, so have placed it here as this is the best place for it.

I can't say I have ever seen that message - perhaps someone else will recognise it & chime in. The links in my signature should be of help & interest to you as a new user.

Enjoy your device & the forum

Here's what I observed when charging docked tablet via PC USB.
    - Tablet charging indicator lit (charges ~ 3%/hr per OP)
    - Dock charging indicator not lit (no charging occurs even after tablet is 100%)
    - Dock will not charge with or without tablet attached

TF 700 Tablet not fully charging while docked

Recentely, my TF700 only charges while docked to around 90%. I plugged charger into tablet without the dock and it charged up to full 100%. Does anyone have any feedback to help me with this issue? Thanks

    Thanks very much for that.

I've added that info to the OP.

I have moved your post here as this subject comes up quite a bit & we do try to keep things tidy

I think that this is a calibration issue, but it is the software reading that needs calibrating, not the battery. Allow your device to fully use its battery/ies until both the dock & tablet are between 5-10%. Then connect to the wall charger - it will turn on, turn it OFF again & allow it to fully charge for a minimum of 8 hours.

Repeat that process 2/3 times & you should then have a fully "conditioned" battery & the battery reporting side of the OS will then be accurately calibrated to your battery.

BTW, could you help us out please by amending your device selection from "researching" to tf700? Thanks very much.

    Welcome to the forum

You have a tf201 but posted in the tf101 section, so I had to move your post. I have added it to this thread which is the best place for your question to be asked. I believe that your best course of action will be to read through the thread - you will then get a great handle on your problem & be able to troubleshoot whether you have an issue with your cable or wall charger & be able to try out various things to get it resolved.

    Battery Power-Dock/Tablet?

When plugged into the dock and when using only battery power, does the tablet draw power from the dock first then the tablet or is there some sort of balanced power draw down? Also, when charging the dock from an external source (110/115 AC) and with the tablet plugged into the dock, will both the dock and the tablet charge or just the dock meaning the tablet must be charged separately?
