    Passwords

Can someone tell me why you get an offer to save a password and other times not , and where it does, it seems not to offer to 'update' one.

I am pretty sure that it is browser specific. (I am guessing that you mean for websites). Which browser do you use?

Yes, I do mean websites. I am using Boat [paid for] Also what does the check box 'remember me' mean / or do ?, as far as I can judge, it does nothing, well, nothing as far as I can see.

I think "remember me" means save your password in the browser settings.

Probably the way you manage your cookies - which is what it uses.
Which is the same "technology" used by other websites to manage automatic logins & password management.
And that probably answers your initial question, as well. If a site doesn't offer to place a cookie on your device which remembers your password, or doesn't follow the protocol for using your browsers password storage function, then you won't get the option presented to you.

Thanks for that. Cookies are enabled in the Browser, but I was wondering if the site itself had some way of allowing Browsers to offer to save Passwords or not. There seems to be a 'thing' about cookies at the moment, all the sites specificity ask for permission to 'install' cookies. You are probably correct in saying that it is not best practice to store passwords, if only I could remember them all..........

A better way to save web site credentials is using a password manager like http://www.lastpass.com/. It's available for every platform.
