Unhappy My transformer automatically shuts down

Hi I'm very new to this type of technology, and am used to using a computer I can put to 'sleep'. So I find it really irritating that my transformer shuts down when not in use and I have to wait for start-up so I can (for instance) add a date to my calendar.

Joy, welcome to the forum! When you put your 101 to sleep, do you just quickly tap the power button? If you do, it should go go into standby. It's when you hold it down a few seconds that a dialog box appears, asking you whether you want to shut it down.

Joy if you're new to android (and tablets in general), there is some good info in The Master Help Guide. Tapping the on/off button should turn your screen on/off...if your tablet is just turning off on it's own, you may want to try a cold boot. The cold boot is handy, sort of blows-the-cobwebs out of a tablet--without harming any of your information...basically good any time you experience a slowdown or 'glitch'. Welcome to the boards.

The tablet really shouldn't me shutting down when it's not in use. All you have to do is press the power button once to turn off the screen and put it into stand-by. Once you press it again, it should instantly turn on. Of course, unless you're out of battery power.
