Which tablet should I buy?

My trusty TF101 was just stolen (see this thread: OMG my tablet was stolen. What can I do?)

I know some of the more recent models have been troublesome. Poor wireless, GPS and other issues.

So I'd be interested in some opinions as to which is the best.

I don't want to spend a lot. I don't need the latest and greatest unless there's a compelling reason for that.

I have no need for the keyboard. I use my desktop for most input tasks. I use the tablet mostly for keeping up with email, book reading (Kindle) and a few games: Sudoku, Freecell & crossword puzzles.

I'd go with a 700 if I was gonna stay with asus.

It sucks your 101 got ripped off.

I have the tf300 and I dont want to put down any tf700 owners out there but unless you are obsessed with having a top of the line screen resolution you'd be best not to get the infinity. I have heard that even though it has a higher clocked prossesor, powering such a large screen makes the device lag. I have also hearsd that the metal frame is very slippery and hard to hold with one hand compared to the tf300's plastic frame. The only plus to the infinity I can see would be another garranteed androuid upgrade because the device is currently ASUS's top transformer model.

I find the TF300 to be more than enough power for anything you can do on android and it is becoming more and more affordable at electronics stores and online.

You mention reading, if you do this outdoors I'd lean towards the 700 since its display is much better suited for that. My son's 300 screen is very nice, but definitely would not recommend it for outdoor use with emails and reading.

Nexus 7. I have a Nexus 7 and Asus TF700 with keyboard dock. I use the Nexus 7 all the time and rarely use the TF700.

I love my TF700. And you will too. Hope it takes a little of the sting away after having your TF101 stolen. This time make sure it's registered and have your serial number kept in a safe place. Can't take any chances. Also it would be wise to get a case for the 700 because the spun metal has a tendency to scratch unlike the TF101. We have some supporting vendors that have some nice cases. Since I own the Dock, I ordered the Caseen DESIGNO PERFECTO to protect both the tablet and dock. But there are other good choices too.

If you don't want to use a case you can use a full body protector as an alternative. It's a screen protector for the front and back. Prevents scratches on the front and back with less added bulk than a case.
