asus power modes
I am wondering what are peoples opinion of the 3 Asus set CPU modes in the notification panel. I Have used my tab now for six months now and when I first got it I used the power saved mode to save my battery. Recently, I switched over to performance mode and the tablet became a lot speedier. I have seen battery tests online (Engadget) that seem to show that there is very little difference in power consumption between the three. Is this what every on has found? Also Is there any risk of running the chip at full speed all the time ?(not over clocked )

I don't think you risk ruining a anything. I DO see a difference in battery use, maybe 30% more drain between the low and the high. I keep mine on balanced unless I need a little extra but don't need it that often. Balanced seems to provide the best bang for the buck as far as battery use.

question
where are the power settings shown. I would like to set mine. tf101. I know I saw it at one time, but it's not there now.

The TF101 doesn't have the same power settings as the other later models do.

Thanks a lot for the response

If you are rooted you might want to check out the app 'OS Monitor' - under the 'Misc' tab, CPU 'More' option there is a place where you can change between five different CPU governor settings. If you are not rooted you will be able to see the settings, but not change them.
There may be other apps available that can do the same thing, OS Monitor is the one I use.

Is there really any point? I have never used anything other than Performance Mode (other than when I reboot and forget to turn it back on). With my TF300, the only thing that ever appears at the top of the battery list is "Screen" and I don't know if I've ever seen it below 90%. I'm running the screen at about 25% brightness and I typically get a full day out of the battery with moderately heavy use.

There absolutely is a difference in the battery use between performance and balanced but if it works fine for you then no problem. The 25% screen brightness at the performance setting is a little brighter than in balanced.

That's good to know. I was more worried about battery use before I got the dock. Now I typically use the tablet with the dock during the day and then plug the dock in to charge when I get home at night. That leaves me with a full charge on the tablet itself.

Would you happen to know at which model level did this power setting feature first appear?
cheers.....b
