Transformer Infinity Wall Charger Overheating Issues

I just wanted to post my recent experiences with my new TF700 tablet's wall charger. This piece of hardware seems to be somewhat (actually more so) under-engineered. It gets VERY hot while charging the tablet. From the time it took to charge from 50% to 75%, about 40 minutes, the wall unit got very hot, actually nearly giving me a blister when touching it. I had read of others here having charger issues after even a short time of ownership.

Much to what others have stated, after about 10 days my charger started to get hot when charging but last night was the worst example. I have worked around electronics for many years as a hobbyist and computer builds and repair. Excessive heat in a voltage converter/charger is usually a good indicator of poor quality components and/or working too hard i.e., large current load.

I happened to have ordered an extra wall charger from eBay with the same output specs as the OEM charger, that is: 15 VDC and 1.2 amps. I paid $13.99 w/free shipping for it. It's build is definitely more substantial and weighs nearly twice as much as the OEM charger. In addition it's cord is permanently attached to the charger and is 6' long. My main reason was to have a spare charger to take along with me when I carry my tablet with me to work and such. This charger barely gets warm at all and charges just as fast as the OEM charger. It passes the CE standard and is UL listed which means it must meet its listed specs with high quality.

Here's a photo of the one I got.

The stock charger is also CE and UL certified.
