Are you running Linux on your Transformer?

I'm only asking that because I would love to do that. I saw a video back in a while and it looked awesome. The tablet was running Ubuntu in the background, with Android loaded, the user accessed the desktop interface using VNC.

    I'm crazy about it, but:

    • Does it access the internet?
    • Does it support the Docks Keyboard and Touchpad?
    • Can I start and stop Linux whenever I want?
    • Can I run everything that runs on the Desktop version of Linux (respecting the tablets processing capability)?
    • Is it really hard to install or someone that used DOS 6.22 (good times!) like a boss can do that?

    Thank you

Yes it is, but I'm talking about Android + Ubuntu being accessed via VNC, not this.

    Something like this

Teamviewer runs on linux and had an android app. Might be just what you are looking for. I have been thinking of getting it running just for fun.

Are you talking about running Ubuntu on your Android device and access it using TeamViewer on the same device? I would like to do that too! I think that the keyboard/mouse support will probably be viewer response, not Linux port. Am I right?

Oh, I thought you said you didn't want it on your device by referencing that XDA thread. There is a way that has something similar to a chroot or ssh environment, but I don't know much about it.

I got ya. That is basically running the image, I don't think you will be able to save much with it. But those files and everything he does should work just fine on the Transformer.

Running a server version, or a very basic terminal version of Ubuntu would be already awesome to run some services, like web server, SABnzbd or at least Sickbeard and CouchPotato to add stuff to SABnzbd, a ZNC server would be awesome too... Or even a basic GUI version, to help from time to time without having to hurry for a real desktop. It's not like I'm going to use it all the time, but I can spare some GBs for emergencies. And it would be awesome to shove that on the faces of my iPad psycho-lovers friends Actually, that alone would worth it. LOL

I agree. This would be my only reason for considering any X86 windoze tablet, it would be wiped clean of the evil that came on it and have Linux on it asap. As for the Android tablets, I use them for a totally different part of life and teamcenter will be all I'd need out of that, not to mention with teamviewer, it's only displaying what my desktop is doing, so the i7 does all the work and the tab shows it to me. Running native Linux on these machines would work, but to me wouldn't be way to useful.
