Question about Google Nexus 7 internal memory for an eleven year old

I'm planning on getting the Google Nexus 7 for my eleven year old daughter. I currently have the Asus Transformer Prime, myself, plus an Android phone.

I'm wondering what people's opinion is on whether to get the 8 GB or spend the extra $$$ and get the 16GB.

Part of me thinks that, unless she loads her device up with lots of movies and music (unlikely), 8gb should be fine, and I frankly would rather not spend the extra $50.

On the other hand, one of the few things I DON'T like about the Google Nexus 7 is the lack of a microSD card slot, so the internal memory you get with the device is pretty much all you're going to have (other then, I guess, the clouds?)

I (years ago) owned an Android with limited memory, and after about six months, found myself having to decide what to delete, whenever a new, cool app showed up that I wanted to play around with and install.

On the otherhand, there were usually TONS of apps which I hadn't opened or used in months, often since the day I installed it.

Anyone care to share their thoughts? I honestly change my mind about this daily, and really want to order one or the other.

For an 11 year old's first tablet...which is going to be the Google Nexus 7.... 8 or 16GB?

    Thanks!

3d games take about 700mb to 400 mb or even more, most casual apps is 26 to 50 mb, light games about 50 to 100mb.

I think it is enough for a 11 year old

    Hi:

I would spend the extra $50 to get the 16gb version. I think you'll spend more than $50 in agony money arguing about what to uninstall to make room for interesting apps, ebooks etc.

I was contemplating the same for my son for his twelfth birthday, and decided to go with the 8gb. Given that it focuses a lot on the cloud, and he most likely won't download a lot of big games, we both agreed that 8gb should be fine. We have a Kindle Fire, and between 4 boys, they haven't filled it up yet.

We should be getting the Nexus 7 in the next couple of days.

I ended up ordering her the 8GB.

The Nexus 7 doesn't have a built in (front) camera, so she won't be filling it up with photos. Also, movies and music take up a large amount of internal memory. She won't be installing tons of movies, and downloading apps take literally seconds!

They seem to be flying off the shelves! Can't wait for it to arrive!

If anyone's interested, my daughters Nexus 7 arrived today! Wow, was THAT fast!

She's thrilled with it, after a few hours!

Still trying to figure out Jelly Bean, as it's set up somewhat different the ICS.

The device has an excellent feel to it, the front camera seems to be working fine (She's on Skype with a friend right now using the Nexus 7) and the device is very smooth... no skips, no hiccups...overall, an amazing device, especially for the price!

I guess she'll be filling it up with photos! I'm really glad she loves it, though. The Nexus 7 is a beast in terms of quality to price ratio.
