Kingsoft Office is what I would try first.

I believe QuickOffice can open passworded files, but I have not tried it myself.

If Kingsoft doesn't do what you want, I got OfficeSuite Pro 7 free a version or two ago. It's not free now so try Kingsoft first.

As always, finding a decent Office package for someone, depends on the specific needs of that person.
It seems all of the available office suits do the basic stuff - text or sheets or presentations with basic formatting.
But as soon as you want to open or exchange files with more advanced formatting, it seems there isn't one single office package that seems
to be able to properly cope with all.

At this moment, I am using Polaris Office, QuickOffice and AndroidOpenOffice. AndroidOpenOffice definitely is the most powerful one,
but could use some further optimisation to make it more tablet friendly. As far as I know, it's also the one that handles Open Document Format. Polaris or QuickOffice: depending on the file, one or the other will perform better at representing the original document.

To be honest: I find it incredible if not to say unacceptable that in December 2013 we still have to struggle with what is to be considered basic functionality - especially if the idea is that a tablet (and certainly a Transformer) could replace your laptop (for certain actions).
