I have been trawling the forum and google for days reading up on everything so I have searched.
Stock ASUS not rooted and on stock 4.2.1

Problem -

Keyboard isnt working anymore as it doesnt show on the battery widget as second battery and the keys or trackpad doesnt work.

On the bottom right hand corner it does though the memory card thats inserted into the dock.

Keyboard though does work (sometimes) when you have the charger plugged in!

Steps to try to resolve this -
Cold booted with dock and undocked
Factory reset (many times)
Reinstalled rom
Even bought another dock. Now I have two docks. Both are actually for the TF700 too btw and not the 201 dock.

To me it seems like it only happen since the OTA update. I could be wrong.
After OTA update to 4.2.1 I had battery drain problems especially with dock plugged in etc.
Is my Asus Infinity itself stuffed as in a hardware fault?
Looking on many forums seems like a few people have this DOCK issue and it works when power plugged in.

I dont want to send my Tablet away for repairs. Once opened up tablets are never the same :(

Right, despite not beeing a apple fan, I went out and bought two ipad's over the years as the Android versions out there at the time was not doing much for me. They are the original iPad and the iPad2, and they have performed very well for me. The only thing I have had issues with, has been PDF capability with larger (150mb+) PDF's, performance with this can be pretty slow and laggy at times.

I figured it was about time to replace alteast the old iPad, and from what I gathered, Android seems to have closed the gap between IOS and Android for the most part, and I always loved the docking keyboard of the transformer series. So, a couple of weeks ago I got myself a second hand TF700 with docking, installed with jellybean and factory reset. I set it up and straight away felt in love with the freedom the TF700 gave me. Browsing my SMB network at home, copying music and PDF's straight into the device, and installing a VPN tunnel so I could connect to my home network from any location was great!

But, I soon experienced some pretty bad things as well. My biggest issue it the horrible keyboard with browser's. Overall I was not happy with internet browsing or browsers, an tried quit a few before I landed on Dophine. Mainly because that have shortcuts rigth at your fingertips. Chrome starts of with Asus boomarks, then I have to go to desktop shotcuts and then click my bookmark. Sorry, to many clicks and with the laggy experience it's time consuming. Dolphine seems to give me the best performance, but typing in shortcuts are a daunting painstaking task. If I open my browser, click the adress field and try to type something, I'm lucky if half the letters makes it across. typing inn WWW almost always end up with just the one W, then the adress, and when I click backspace odds are the whole things gets deleted and I have to redo the typing maybe 2-3 times before I get it right. The best thing seems to click adress field, do a quick zen meditation for 10 seconds and slowely start typing, pause to see every letter gets typed in, then click enter.

I know I must come off as very impatient at this, but the 3 year old iPad I intended to replace with the TF700 have no issues keeping up with me. I have read up on the topic, and some seems to claim that the Asus keyboard is the issue. I have not tried installing other keyboards, but could this little 600kb keyboard installation really be the issue?

I went on a killing spree, and finished of alot of crapware I did not use, and that helped me some. I noticed the TF700 used well over 600MB of memory just keeping the OS running, leaving little headroom for apps. I read up on that as well, and many seem to claim memory works differently in android and that's not always a sign of a overloaded system. Never the less, killing crapware and getting memory closer to 500MB instead of 650MB seem to help.

I also came acress many recommending rooting the TF700, and I guess that's a option if needed. I would rather not, I would prefer not having to fiddle with it, but right now it's not really living up to expectations and I'm half tempted to try something else. How does the TF700 performe compared to say a Nexus 10 or the new Sony tablet?

So, any recommendations on what I can do to get browsing a better experience? my main and biggest issue is laggy horrible keyboard, but overalt the TF700 sadly feels overall slower than my previous tablets.

Any and all help will be greatly appriciated!

Tablet is rooted/flashed w Chromix. Apex is the launcher. Startup seems long but unsure. I timed it from off to all icons showing up. From off, when u start it up and feel the 1st vibration to the full screen is 1:30. Seems like a long time but would like others to chime in too please.

If mine is way too slow, what do I do to fix it or speed it up?

Thanks all!

Hi All!

I have "only" two problems with my brand new TF700KL.

1. All of my paid apps doesn't work with this device. After rebooting (switch off / on) crashing all. I can use only free apps. If Im right, this feature (not bug, lol) due to the Goggle DRM, but i have not found any solution to fix it.

2. If i try to install from Google Play random apps I get it back the "Insufficient Storage Available" msg. And of course I can not install the selected app! And yes, has enough free memory on the device. I have found solution only for the rooted device, but there is no root for the KL version...

I'm using the official, up-to-date ROM from ASUS site. (SKU=VF).

With this "bugs" I can use as a paperweight ... too big and expensive paperweight.

Pls help.

Thanks, Gabor

I've just upgraded the launcher on the Infinity to Jelly Bean 4.2. I have now noticed that I have to use a convoluted way to change the system performance mode by going to Settings, then Asus Customised Settings, then Change System Performance. Is there a quick way of doing it, possibly by using the Notification Shade / Quick Settings of version 4.2, or by having an appropriate homescreen widget?
Many thanks.

I am fairly new at all of this and am reaching out to the experts out there.
I have an Asus TF700T Infinity. It is unlocked and has TWRP recovery installed. The tablet keeps booting into the TWRP recovery.
Come to find out, somehow during the modding process I accidentally installed the TF201 boot-loader on my TF700 tablet. I have ADB and Fast-boot installed on my Windows 8 computer, but I'm not really sure how to use it.
Right now, the only way for me to boot into the boot-loader is by going into the "terminal command" in TWRP and using this command:

"insmod /external_sdcard/bootit.ko". (I have this on my ext.sdcard)
It went right into the bootloader menu. 4 icons.

Android Cardhu-user bootloader <1.00 e>
Released by "Us_epad-10.4.2.15-20120917 A03

I have tried installing multiple roms using the TWRP, it shows a successful install, but when rebooting, the tablet goes back to the TWRP recovery.
I checked my history in my browser and I'm pretty sure it was this file that caused the problem (if that helps).
Upgrade Hairybean 4.2.1 Bootloader & Recovery

Can anyone out there help me get this tablet back to the TF700 boot-loader? Is it even possible? I am in desperate straits here. Please help.

Thank You

so this morning my tf700 has been acting a bit out of sorts. Every process seems to be running as it should EXCEPT the internet. My wifi is working as I'm posting this from my laptop which has been sitting next to my tf700 all morning.

The tf700's internet has been dropping. It will show 'no internet connection'. If I go to settings and turn it off and back on right away it will come back on and connect for 3-10 minutes (this is the range it will stay on. This has continued for a few hours. Not sure what to do next? I've restarted it to no avail.

I remember reading on this forum somewhere about a soft reboot (can't remember what it was called) that kept all my information but it did something. If this is what I need to do, how?

Any thoughts?
