I just purchased a Prime 201 and it is driving me crazy already !

After getting home i switched it on and let it go through the standard setup routine. As part of this process it downloaded and installed a firmware update. After this had completed i attempted to start using it and instantly starting getting a weird problem.

The device picks up my wireless network without any problem but thats when the problems start. For whatever reason i can't browse to certain web sites or download anything from the play store. Below is a summary of what i have found so far.

1. Gmail works fine and i can send and receive email
2. I can connect to certain web sites like cnn.com, microsoft.com or cnet.com
3. I can connect to the play store but when i attempt to download anything it just seems to go forever and the download never starts
4. I cannot connect to google.com or a number of other web sites. It just times out

I have looked through a few forum posts and have seen reported issues with the play store but cannot for the life of me understand why i can't even get to google.com or other web sites !!

I've tried a series of cold resets, erasing the data & clearing the cache from the apps setting for play store but nothing seems to work. I also tried a cold reset and selecting the RCK option but then i just get the android robot error (red exclamation mark)

I have made no mods whatsoever and this is a straight out of the box configuration plus the automatic firmware update. In settings it reports the andriod version as being 4.1.1 and the build number as JR003C.WW_epad-10.4.2.18-20121122

Any ideas would be appreciated as this is driving me crazy

I have a TF201 and it is not charging.

-Does not charge when plugged into different wall wart. Asus wall wart charges other stuff.
-Cable is able to transfer data.

I'm pretty sure I need a new cord. Oh and warranty is up.

A new and unusual issue.

I have a 32GB SD card I use with my Prime that I store most of my media, books, etc. on. Historically I would connect my Prime to my PC via the USB cable and copy-paste files across via the standard Windows File Manager. However today when I attempted to do so, nothing shows up on the card on my PC. So the card still contains all my files, I can put it in a USB converter and connect it directly to my PC where I can see all my files and add/remove as wanted. When I place the card in the Prime it detects it and I can access all files on the card through the tablet. Yet when I plug the Prime into my PC it shows both Internal Storage and MicroSD and even shows on the SD icon that I have 16.3GB of 29.8GB free. But double-clicking into the folder I am presented with a blank screen of "This folder is empty." I can however freely navigate the Internal Storage and all files are present and accessible.

To the best of my knowledge I have updated neither the Prime nor done any Windows updates in recent memory. The only possible tie-in, is in the last month I used it a bit more (did some travelling) and noticed that at times it would lock itself in sleep mode. As in I would power it up, maybe start playing some music or something, but when I go to wake it to change a song or access the screen it stays blank. Repeated power pressings and patience will cause it to eventually turn on (depending on the impatience level and amount of power button pressings sometimes the screen goes on and off rapidly to reflect as such). The time frame I'm suggesting here is maybe 5-10 seconds between pressing the power and eventually it waking up. Meanwhile the music plays continuously with no indication of a freeze.

PC: Windows 8
Prime: 4.1.1

As mentioned I've accessed the SD card multiple times this way with no issues. I have no idea why my PC suddenly sees the SD card as blank.

I have looked at all sorts of posts and still can't get my Asus prime Tf201 to be visible to my work PC running XP Pro SP3. I had to reformat my PC several weeks ago and am just now wanting to move some files from my desktop back to tablet.

When I plug tablet in via USB charging cable it shows up in Windows explorer as a camera and I can see a DCIM folder but nothing else. If I switch the tablet to MTP device it shows nothing in Explorer. I have been to Asus site and downloaded what i thought were correct USB drivers but apparently not. I connected it last night to my Windows 7 laptop and it showed all folders on internal card and external sd card just as it should so it must be a problem with the drivers I have installed on XP desktop. I have tried everything and all I want to do is to be able to move files around. Desktop at work is not on wifi so that option is out.

Can anyone tell me how to start over and get back to the way it worked before I had to reformat my desktop?

I have a TF201 Keyboard dock with accented letters, problem is that when i press them the keyboard layout i scrambled and I get diffrent characters.
Any solution?

I see that your on,my I need your Help again! How do I find my GPS On my tab! Or do I put the dongle on and it starts? Also I'm so confused with your sites far as using it and finding answers in your threads I don't know where to find answers! HELP!!!

My 201 has stopped connecting to my Verizon Hot Spot. Everything else in the house connects. The 201 see the signal and recognizes the network, I tap connect under Settings, but no connection. I tapped Forget and reentered password hit connect but again no connection nor an indication that has not connected. I use the browser to see if I can connect to Internet but no connection. Help

please help.

I can log on to a web site and the unit works fine. I can go to another site and after 8-12 seconds the site drops off and returns to the home screen.

no updates since new, a little over a year ago. haven't used it that much.

any help appreciated. too much money and not be able to use it, sad.

I had to do a cold boot this AM, since I was getting a major battery drain overnight. AL seems good now, but I can't see the notification for my SD card in the lower right corner, and I would like to remove the card safely. How can I remove the card, or get back the little SD card icon in the lower right corner??? I know I have done this a long time ago, but I just can't remember where to find it.

I cannot stream live videos from websites with my transformer prime.

I received a prime that when turned on was stuck on the gears with a triangle screen. It had 9.4.2.7 on it judging by the numbers that popped up on the top of it when I was trying to get into RCK.

I downloaded 9.4.2.7 and it threw android belly up. It didn't work. I then tried 10.4.2.18 and it worked, but when it got to the setup screen my touch didn't work. I hooked a mouse up to it and went into about this tablet to discover that the Touchscreen firmware says "Not Available"

What did I do wrong? Should I go back and put a version in between the two on it? If so, how do I properly flash it back?

Yesterday I ecountered interesting thing with my TF201. It rebooted, during the reboot I accidentally "closed it" (screen goes to dock keyboard). After opening, there was a message about problems with encryption - and nothing was happening further. So I did the reboot, tablet stops at 'ASUS' screen. I can go to menu by pressing power+vol_dn. I have tried them all:
RCK - displays some messages in upper-level corner, and that's it (stays on 4-icon screen)
Android - reboots and ends with robot with red triangle
USB - displays some messages only (stays on 4-icon screen)
Wipe - after confirmation it reboots, displays the same robot as for the update, boots again and stucks at 'ASUS' screen.

Tablet was never rooted, or updated with non-official soft. Updated only using official procedure with official updates. Literally, nothing was done with it (even no tuning or advanced apps).
So what could have happened? Is there a way to unbrick that?

I have a prime 201 when it is docked it charges fine but when i undock it and plug in the charger in to the bottom of the tablet it will not charge. Any one else having the same problem?

I placed a lock code on our tablet to keep our children out. I thought I remembered the the code being alpha/numeric but it only shows a numeric keypad to unlock. So I'm at a complete loss for the code now. I've been reading up on the forums that if the wifi in the house is connected, (which it is and was when the lock was set), Google should pop up and ask for our account password. This isn't happening. I've restarted the tablet 3 times. I am trying to avoid a factory reset because I don't feel like redoing everything. If it must be done, then it is what it is. Until I throw in the towel, is there something I'm missing, not doing correctly to get an alphabetical keypad or get Google to pop up and ask for my password?
