VivoTab Smart - HDMI w/ no sound

Trying to connect my VivoTab Smart to my Home Theatre Receiver. Got HDMI video working fine, but no sound coming out. Had to use a second cable to connect Headset sound output directly into my receiver sound input; this works, but shouldn't I be getting both sound and video from the HDMI output ? Is anyone using the VivoTab Smart HDMI out, and getting both Sound and Video ? I need to established if this is the way it's supposed to work before spending lots of time trouble shooting any further. Could be a cable issue (unlikely, but possible), Sound Setup (likely and possible) or Driver issue (unlikely, Win8 is up-to-date).

Do you see the HDMI output as an option in the Sound Playback Devices selection panel?

If you do see it then make sure it's enabled and selected as default...

Tx I did. HDMI Output is enabled, and I set it as default. Result:

    1. I can play Sound (through the Home Theater Receiver)from a video (from a web site, not media player) but without Video (i.e. projector turned OFF)
    2. I can play Video (same way), however, as soon as I turn ON the projector, the Sound goes OFF, and the default output is reset to Speaker automatically.
    3. I tried resetting HDMI Output to default while Video is playing to no avail. Rebooting had no effect either. I can play video through HDMI and sound through Speaker concurrently, but not both through HDMI at once !

    Conclusion:

Both sound and video can go through the HDMI Output, but for some reason, it won't let me channel both through at once !

I'll try finding someone with an HDMI TV to see if I get the same result, otherwise, I'm running out of ideas !

p.s. in the process, I disabled the Speakers, which made them disappear altogether from the devices list ! ; this had no effect other than giving me a hell of a time getting them back. They wouldn't be found through the search for new hardware devices scan in Control Panel, I finally got them back by clicking on the Speaker Icon on the system's tray, which triggered a system error, which launched the auto repair ! Not very intuitive !

Odd, is everything up to date with the drivers and firmware?

Though, problem could have been caused by a bad update... it definitely sounds like you got a driver conflict of some sort going on... Problem is sometimes something seemingly completely unrelated could be the cause. So it's not always easy to track down but you can start with the video and audio drivers...

Tx, firmware and drivers are up-to-date. I'll try eliminating any hardware source first I think. I need to find someone I know with an HDMI TV.
