    Installing windows 8 from USB

    Hi All,

I have ASUS Vivo tab with following configuration,
    OS: Windows 8 32 bit
    Processor: Intel Atom

I wanted to know how to install Windows 8 on this tablet if something goes wrong. I searched online and found out that using USB Windows 8 can be installed. I created the bootable windows 8 USB. Now the problem is I am not able to set my BIOS to boot from USB.

Is there any other way to achieve this?

If something were to go wrong and Windows is unable to load, you can access the advanced start-up options and do a re-installation that way. There is also a hidden partition in the tablet that you can use to create your own back-up media on a USB stick. You will not be able to install a fresh copy on Windows on the VivoTab or the VivoTab Smart and I would not suggest doing so. The drivers will not be made available for manual downloading, so you will not be able to load the necessary drivers to make everything work properly.

I'd usually recommend making a image backup of the whole drive as soon as you get the system... that way anything goes wrong you can always restore it back to original state.

For re-installing W8, there are utilities that will let you backup the drivers if they're not publicly available... but like the image backup, it has to be done on a working system and before anything goes wrong!

I agree with zeo. Make a backup image.

You should never need to reinstall Windows. If your OS file system is corrupt, restore the image. If the drive fails and the hardware is replaced, restore the image.

Tap F8 to get a boot menu. Only 32-bit UEFI flash drives will boot.
