Unhappy VivoTab Smart does not work - even when the power cord is plugged

A frustrating problem with Asus VivoTab Smart:

When the battery goes critical down or almost empty, VivoTab Smart goes black (power off) and wont start again - even the power cord is plugged. Charging the battery takes hours. Usually longer than the active run time with VivoTab, when battery is up and well.

I wonder, if anyone else have had this problem with VivoTab Smart - and is there any reasonable solution?

    Welcome to the forum

    1) You should never run your battery that low - not unless you don't care about damaging it and shortening its lifespan which you have already (self evidently) done.
    2) Your charger is clearly not powerful enough to both charge the device from this drained condition and run the device.
    3) The slow speed of charging would indicate to me that you have irreparably damaged your battery and you will never change this behaviour.
    4) Your only recourse is to never to allow your battery to drop below around 40% before you connect to a/c
    5) In short the lesson here is this - if you abuse things they break.

    Thanks for the advices,

    1) If I would buy a new charger for the tablet, how powerful should it be - to enable sufficient charger asus-vivotab-battery.jpgasus-vivotab-charger.jpgcapacity? (Comparing to the original; see the image attached)

    2) Would you suggest, after all the stupid mistakes I've made with the device, that it would be worth to buy a new replacement battery for about 70-80 € (e.g. from eBay), or move on and completely forget the device?

As far as chargers go, yours specifies 5v/2amps. So any charger that outputs 5v and a minimum of 2 amps will be fine - but even a 10 amp charger (not that such a thing exists) is not guaranteed to help as the charging circuit in the tablet determines how much current to draw from the charger.

Under no circumstances buy any charger that outputs at more than 5v. You will fry your device completely.

As far as replacing the battery is concerned, only you can decide if you want to spend more money on the device and risk the DIY repair.

I'd just get what you have charged, wipe it and sell it on, personally.
