Subtitles only shows up on tablet, but not on TV screen

I've been using the TF101 for a while and right now, I've started to watch HD movies. Because of the limited screen size on the TF101. I connected the tablet to a Samsung HDTV trough the available mini-HDMI port.

If I played the vids with software decoder, both TF101 and the HDTV shows the video and the subs.
If I played the vids with hardware decoder, only HDTV shows the video without the subs while TF101's screen remains black but the subs appears there .

Now, I wish that I'm able to play vids with hardware decoder while the video and the subtitle appears on HDTV but nothing on the TF101 (although it's not a must, but I thought that black screen may conserves more power than a lit-up screen).

I'm currently playing the vids with MXPlayer and DicePlayer and both gave me the same character and results.

Any help would be great, thanks.

Best I can say is try some different players.

Another option, since you TF is gonna have a cord running to the TV whilst doing this, why not plug the charger in too while watching the movie to keep the battery from draining?

Was a workaround ever figured out for this issue? It's annoying as I use subtitles all the time..
