    Welcome

Sorry to read of your loss.

I'll be brief, but hopefully helpfully direct.
    1. You think this is a TF103 - but that didn't ever have ICS.
    2. It could be a TF101
    3. If it is a TF101 it isn't worth your time or effort to try and resurrect it. The device is worthless and completely past the point of trying to get it fixed. The error you are experiencing on a device that old probably indicates the internal "hard drive" (eMMC) is failing.
    4. For a cheap replacement Android based device for a child, take a look at an Amazon Fire tablet - they are as little as $50. They even do a kids version for $100 with a "no questions asked" if they break it, we'll replace it warranty.

    Hope that helps

Thank you its been rough with the children, I try to spend weekends with them
But one is to young to fully understand and keeps calling me by his name..
I might have misimplied about Icecream sandwich. It is definitely was running
that OS. Can this be totally wiped accidently resulting in a screen with WELCOME
in several languages? Its the sentimentally of passing something down from their
grandpa that he enjoyed so Amazon not an option yet. He did buy them gifts for
next Christmas but not tablets. There is actually a second identical one we found
he must have used that last. Would it be possible to go into root level and backup
A and clone it onto B if they are identical? Just guide me to step one My name
is Gerard Geiler on FB and I can chat or email EDIT Any
efforts Pay it Forward here would be greatly appreciated

Loosing loved ones is never easy, sadly it is all a part of the "circle of life".

It is not possible to do what you ask, cloning wise.

If you are getting a welcome screen, the only thing you could easily try is to setup the device from scratch. Simply follow the onscreen prompts and go through the setup. You'll need to setup and add a Google account. I suggest you create one specifically for the tablet. If it does not work, then again, you are just wasting your time. Once the internal memory starts to fail, the device is effectively toast.

There is no chance at all of recovering data that was on the device. That has gone.

We have very little information on your device as it stands, so photos may well be helpful. Try to capture anything that is shown on the screen as those details can identify your model.

We are a user to user forum - lots of help and guidance is in the board, but it may all come to nothing if you have a tf101 whose hardware is failing. Those devices are 6 years old.

    1. What is the model? That would be a good start.
    2. Android devices have a setup wizard that should "just work".
    3. If you have a tf101 or tf201 or tf300 then we have a guide on Factory Resetting linked from the Master Help Guide (link in my signature, below)
    4. If you have a tf103 then follow the sticky threads in this section.
