I'm an Idiot.
I thought I'd placed the file into the main storage area and it not worked. I also tried putting it into the Download folder and even created a folder called SDCard on the main internal storage.
I think I may not have been using the right .zip file. I may not have unzipped it the first time or I used the original .zip, thinking it was the ".zip from the .zip" file. I even uncompressed the file all the way out and tried to install it.
Anyway, this last time, I started off by removing all the update files from my PC and re-downloaded it fresh so there was no confusion.
Unzipped the original
installed the new .zip onto the main internal storage with all the other folders
unplugged and got the notification.
Leave it up to me to make it harder than it should have been.
