    Help With Drivers

Hi... I just purchased the Asus Transformer this past weekend and I need some help.

I connected the tablet to my PC so that I could add some music files/videos and when I first connected it, my PC recognized it. The tablet was showing in My Computer as MTP. I added music from my computer to the music folder located in the MP by dragging and dropping the files. The music was showing on the tablet and everything seemed to be working just fine. But then, the next thing I know...my PC is no longer recognizing the tablet. It's not showing up in My Computer at all and when I look under the drivers, it shows MTP with an exclamation point. I tried updating the driver, but all I get is an error saying "An error occurred during the installation of the device. A service installation section in this INF is invalid."

I've tried everything I know to do. I've disconnected the tablet from my PC and then reconnected it. I've restarted my computer. I've downloaded and installed the pc suite, which didn't install correctly because it says the Asus Android Drivers did not install.

So, my question is...how do I get the drivers installed?

I don't necessarily care to use the sync program for my calendar or contacts. I just want to be able to connect my tablet to my pc via the USB port and just add the music files I want to add.

    Any help is appreciated...

    Welcome to the forum

Had you tried installing the ASUS TF USB drivers? ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Eee- ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101

Also you might want to delete the device that has the exclamation pint and restart. Don't plug the TF in until the system comes back up completely.

I personally gave up on trying to transfer files via USB. I created some network shares and started using File Manager HD or ES File Explorer to transfer files. For large (movies) I use a USB Hard Drive (with the keyboard dock) or I pull my microSD and plug it into the PC and copy to the microSD.

Other members have had success getting the TF recognised again by enabling USB Debugging Mode in Settings > Applications > Development

I had the very same problem. I tried updating the driver, deleting the driver, reinstalling the driver.

Two months past. Then I decided to tackle this again. First I downloaded the driver from ASUS. Then I unpluged the TF USB. Then I deleted the driver. Then plugged in the TF and the PC said do you want to install the driver. Next I installed from the saved driver location. When asked if you want to have windows open explorer when it finds the TF, say YES. Now it works fine.

I may not have the exact order of the steps, but it has to do with either having the TF plugged or unplugged at the time or driver installation.

My point is that this problem is solveable through a bit of perseverance.

I have 4 desktops and 2 laptops, never did and still don't have a problem. For grins I tried plugging into a customer's system, (who is a TF owner) in his office and after a reboot it worked like a charm.

Thanks for the tips. I'm gonna go try them now and I'll let you guys know the outcome. I sure hope this isn't a recurring problem with this tablet.

Okay...I went and tried to download the drivers, but I can't see anything that even mentions a driver. Can you tell me what the download will say? All I see are the ones that are for the manuals or guides.

That link takes you straight to the download page. You can select your operating system from the pulldown menu and it will download the correct drivers.
