    Can't tether to ad hoc wifi (JoikuSpot)

    Is it just me? I've never been able to tether to an ad hoc access point. I can tether to infrastucture APs fine.
    I'm using JoikuSpot Lite on a Nokia 5800.

    I have the latest update 8.6.5.19-20111107 on my unrooted TF and my wifi version is v5.2.65. (To be clear, the problem hasn't been caused by the update - I've had it all along.)

    Since the update, I have "forgotten" the JoikuSpot network from the wireless settings and cold-booted.

    Not sure what's relevant, but here's some more info -

    Both dock and tablet are B60.

    /system/bin/wpa_supplicant is 273.04k and dated Sep 30th 2011

    /etc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf contains
    Code:
    update_config=1
    ctrl_interface=wlan0
    eapol_version=1
    ap_scan=1
    fast_reauth=1
    Wifi Analyser reports strong signal but says "AdHoc is not supported by Android platform yet!"

    I know there are a number of threads relating to similar issues, but nobody else seems to be reporting that they still can't connect to ad hoc.

    Does anyone have this combo working?
    Any (non-root) suggestions?

    David

    I believe that one of the updates prior to the latest enabled ad-hoc for non-rooted tablets. I have not tried it, but I will have to in the near future and I will report back.

    Had the same problem. with factory asus firmware tf300 couldn't see joikuspot at all, after updating asus to latest everything, joikuspot access point ssid could be seen but not connected to. Enabled WEP in joikuspot (default settings and key, premium version needed) and all now working.

    Nokia E63
    Transformer TF300 fully updated.
    Joikuspot PREMIUM latest version with WEP enabled (ASCII 64-bit)

    There is no WEP option in the free version so no joy there. Not sure if the WEP function will fix for TF101 though...

    Hope this helps.
