    Asus transformer battery display mystery

    Hi all,

I've had a transformer for a few days, and been seeing something strange. Got it home, charged it to 100%, and then started using it. No issue for the first day or two, but then on the third day I plugged it in and went to sleep with the battery at 96%, but in the morning it was still only at 96%. I thought this was strange and tested out the charger, and for a while I thought it wasn't charging - the light comes on at the side, but the battery icon doesn't change to the 'charging' icon.

But then I realised that it wasn't dropping throughout the day - and in fact it went up to 100% after four or five hours of use. It's still reporting 100% several hours later, and doesn't show the charging icon if I plug it in.

Any ideas? I'm thinking that it is in fact charging, but there's some software glitch or issue that's causing it to lose track of the battery. I can still return it if necessary, but have done a fair bit of work setting it up so I didn't really want to unless no other option.

    Thanks,

    Gary

Try a cold boot, search the forum for exact directions if you are not sure how to execute.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if you charge the TF if it is already charged to 95%, its not going to charge anymore. The battery has to be drained down further than that to get it charging back up to 100%. Also while the TF is new it is going to take a few charges for the battery to reach it's max of 100%. I've had mine for 5 months and sometimes it still will not reach a full 100% after an all night charge. But the battery between the Tab/Dock last the whole day and into the late night, I don't worry about it. I have never had any device that has lasted near this long.

    Is this while it's docked?

    Draining was the answer

Hi all, and thanks for the responses.

I had searched the forums and hadn't found this exact problem, hence posting - but I did find the answer.

I ran movies on the TF until it drained to around 70%, and then plugged it in and it immediately showed the charging icon. Left it overnight and it's reporting 100% this morning - so I think you're right, above 95% it just wasn't attempting it. It was docked (with the keyboard), and definitely strange that it went up from 96% to 100% without charging, but that might again be because it's new. From now on I'll drain more before I attempt to charge - thanks for the advice guys!
