splashtop to home pc from school......

hey guys im new to the forum but have tried searching high and low for this anwser. I set up my spashtop remote access fine using the port forwarding for the router my pc is connected to. The problem is when im on my schools wifi, and I try to connect to my home pc, it wont let me. Im not sure if it has something to do with my school network or what but any suggestions would be very much appretiated. Im pretty computer savy but not the best IT person is the world. Thank you

If you forwarded the 3 separate ports and you can connect frome a 3g connection to home, your school may be blocking it. You could try different ports to see if that helps.

Also you can try Splashtop HD which uses your google credentials to hook up no port forwarding required.

Probably closed ports on schools wifi. Try to reconfigure splashtop to use port 80

    In settings/advanced settings

Port 80 is standard http port, all websites are on port 80 so it must be open in your school.

Just tried at home, everything works fine on 80

Don't forget to change settings on tf and port forwarding on rooter

ok ill give that a try. given the schools run off port 80 i should be able to bypass whatever is holding me up at school and remotely connect as i normally do i assume. thank you all very much. ill keep you posted.

hey man thankx for your replies. I have a question though. You said to change the port number to 80 in my advanced settings, after I do that what would i have to change on my tf or router? wouldnt i just keep everything else the same since i already opened up those three ports on my router and can connect via 3g everywhere else do do i need to take additional steps now that i changed the advanced settings to port 80? thanks man

You will have to change the port on your PC at home in the server settings, in your router and in your splashtop on your TF.

Your school cannot block port 80 because it is the http port but you can use it for something else if you want.
