Transferring files onto Asus Transformer

Total tablet newbie here and I can't seem to find this, but how do you transfer files from say a thumb drive plugged into the usb port on the keyboard? Or maybe a better question is what is the best way to transfer files from a pc to the tablet? I tried to use File Manager on the Transformer and was able to find the file on the usb drive and copy it, but I could not find any way to paste it anywhere on the tablet memory. The first one I tried was a .3gp video, but I will ultimately need to save some pdf's and web sites and other things as well for work to use while not connected to the web.

Ive been using the dropbox app.

I tried Dropbox, and then put my tablet in "airplane mode" to simulate not having an internet connection and it could not access the files. So it doesn't seem Dropbox is the answer.

DropBox will work but you must open the files. Opening them, let's say with Adobe, will put them on the local system. At least it has for me. Every file I've opened has been available while on the road.

Just opening it didn't work with the first file I tried which was a .3gp video file. I figured out in DropBox I can long press the file and 'download' it, and then I could see it and open it using the file manager. But I don't see any way to download more than one file at a time. One of the things I want to put on the tablet is a mirrored copy of my company's website. I certainly don't want to have to do that for all 650 files that make up the website.

Ok, I got it, I used Astro file manager ap. And then directed the browser to file://mnt/sdcard/download/site/index.html or used astro and long pressed and 'open as'
Kinda dumb that tablets don't come with the ability to simply move files around.
