    Lightbulb No backlight?

I recently bought a used transformer and keyboard combo off eBay(yea yea... >_<) for $410. The tablet is in perfect condition cosmetically, but the keyboard just has a minor ding in the corner where it was dropped. Not that big of a deal and I don't see how that could be related to the backlight(except for the drop maybe)

Anyways I was told the entire thing was in perfect working condition and I'm not worried about not being able to get a refund since eBay is good at those things.

My problem is that the tablet powers on and I can use it, but there is no backlight at all. I need to use a flashlight pointed at an angle in order to see anything (and even with that I'm barely able to see)

But before I get a refund I'd like to know if theres a way for me to fix that. I'm hoping its just a software glitch but if I have to pay to get the backlight fixed then forget it since I just spent $400

any help or advice you can give is greatly appreciated

First of all, did you contact the seller about this? If it was me, i would leave some blisteringly bad feedback. Did the seller say it was in good working condition?

This doesn't sound good right away and is probably a hardware issue but you could try a Hard Reset:

Unplug the power cord and shut the unit off and Press and Hold the power button and the Down volume button. Keep holding until the little print appears in the upper left hand corner. Then let go of both buttons and let it reboot.

If this doesn't help wait for someone like the Rescue Squad to give an opinion before you send it back. Hope things get sorted out for you.

You may need someone to hold the flashlight for you.

I sent him an email a few hours ago but he hasn't responded yet. I want to see if theres like a quick and easy fix first before I start demanding my money back since I kinda need to have this tablet working asap

I know you can't see anything without a flashlight, but have you tried going into settings and adjusting the screen brightness? Settings (the large blue circle surrounded by a black circle on your main screen--it might be in the upper left corner, or might have been moved anywhere else by the previous owner.) > Screen (third item on the list) > Brightness (first thing on the list on the right). It's a slider type adjustment, and it might be turned down all the way. If you can see it well enough to drag it to the right all the way, it might help.

That was the first thing a tried. If the brightness was all the way down I would still be able to see something. Its nearly impossible to see anything on a black background. pretty much the browser is the only thing I've been able to see clearly (with the flashlight and at an angle, of course)

i guess its better to do cold , but no the hard reset, because they may blame you to cause that problem
ask the seller will be the best solution

Sorry to say it sounds like a defective screen my friend. You can try returning it or having it repaired by Asus. Have you checked if the TF was registered with Asus? You can do so on the Asus website for new product registration.
I don't know if it will become a problem if the first owner has registered it. Lets us know what happens
