battery came with no charge - normal or defect - asus says defective
I just received my transformer. When I tried to turn it on, it would not. After holding the on button for a while, I gave up.
I plugged in the charger and it fired right up. Of course I am assuming the battery came uncharged. Since I thought this was odd, I contacted Asus via email. They replied by saying it sounds like it is defective, however due to the poor English used in their return email, I am not sure I can be assured they understand my question.
Did anyone's pad come come completely uncharged and unable to be turned on without first charging?

no....mine come with 50% on it

Thats strange cos I bought one from Comet 5 days ago, like you plugged it in to charge and it had 3% so left it to charge a while. I was round a friends house. After about 4hrs I put it in the box and came home
when I got home I went to get it out to continue the charge and the screen was black with small white writing in the top left corner which said something like...Deleting data Press - to contiue or + to stop.
I quickly pressed the + and switched it off and on again. All seemed normal eccept the pictures were missing. I wasnt appy with the unit so took it back and changed it for the TF and keyboard. This one had about 3/4
power when I first started it up....

Although most devices with lithium batteries I've bought in the last few years have come with "some" charge on then, and many have come fully charged, the time they spend in a warehouse or store before being bought/used they could be slowly draining. Heck, maybe one of the quality controls it to turn it on abn make sure it boots, and your was never turned off before packaging.
If it charges up to 99% or 100%, and works as expected from now on, then you have a fine battery and a fine tablet. If it never works when not plugged in, then send it back.

My transformer came with 33% battery when i pulled it out of the box. Purchased from best buy this week.

I think my tablet came with 50% or so. I'm not sure since I plugged it in for a while before I did anything with it.
If you can't get it to turn on after charging it for at least 30 minutes or so, then I would say its defective. 30 minutes is plenty of time to charge it and at least having it being able to boot. Just make sure you are using the original charger for 30 minutes and not the USB port on your computer.

mine wasnt charged either and now having concerns about batery life,,,can someitmes drain battery from full to empty in 1 day with it just in standby and not used.. this is with all gps and wifi etc turned off

If it takes a full charge and runs 8 hours or more, then I would not worry.
