TF101 Does not boot up, possibly BIOS problem?

    All concern helpers,

I have TF101 and have a great problem of SHUTTING DOWN..
I had tried hard reset, factory reset, firmware restore/update with (TF101: E101_SDUPDATE.zip), checked the adapter & cable & connector which are all working.. But after displaying "Cold booting linux", it permanently shuts DOWN,,,, until you press power up button along with volume down button again for another try ..

    Your comments highly appreciated.

BIOS for TF101 maintenance, is there anything to discuss about?

What is the triggering device hat powers the operating system to start as we press the power button? isn't it that power button only gives the system electrical charge.

What happens when BIOS is not working? isn't it that this thing only works under internal battery which I think is kind of button type that drains in time about 4 years.

Pretty sure the power button is a simple switch.

    Welcome to the forum!

The TF101 does not have a BIOS like a typical computer, but it does have a bootloader. If you can get to the hard reset menu chances are the bootloader is still working.

Curious if recovery still works. Hold VOL DOWN and POWER for 12-15 seconds until you see some white text (before the WIPE and ANDROID icons) and tap VOL UP during this 5 seconds.

Do you see a dead droid animation?

If so, I would grab the latest firmware for your tablet from http://support.asus.com . Unzip the firmware file once (it should still be a .zip) and place it on a microSD card. Boot to recovery and it should trigger a firmware upgrade (even if on the same firmware version).

You will have to know your current firmware SKU which is based off of where you bought it. US = United States, CN = China, DE = Belgium/Germany, JP = Japan, TW = Taiwan, WW = Worldwide (everywhere else).

If that does not work, you can boot to APX mode and use NVFlash (I prefer EasyFlasher) to push the stock firmware if you are truly bricked. Keep in mind NVFlash will wipe your tablet completely, and does not work on the SL101 or TF101G (3G model).
