To clarify the #4 test: keys won't wake screen but touching the trackpad does. Is that okay?

Let me add a very well done on the explanation and thanks for taking the time.

The luck of the draw gave me a good keyboard according to the test. I want to join the chorus to thank you for taking the time to write this up, it cleared up a lot of things.
As far as what the Asus clerk says when you call, almost always on the first level of help it's best not to try to get the person to understand you or you're problem if you get to the point of them accusing you of doing it all wrong. I've found over the years that if you just say thanks, hang up, and call right back, you'll get a new person who may be more familiar with the problem. As long as you're being reasonable, that almost always works.

Thank you OP for this post. Now I know the why. I RMA'd my dock- a B40- On Wed (now Mon) because I knew I had the drain problem and figured now or never. Costs too much to keep a defective unit. CSR listened to me when I said asus has recogognized there is a batttery drain problem that is hardware related and no update will fix it. He gave me an RMA # immediately- no problem. So the waiting.....they should have received it today. Was told turn around time was 14 days. I was under the impression they would send me a new one- now I know they can fix my original. Thanks!

It's now Thur- dock shipped back to me! just waiting on it to show up via fed-ex.

Yeah, I didn't notice that before, but touching the trackpad does wake it up, even when pressing the keys does not. I have a feeling Asus missed that little glitch. They purposely reduced the power draw by allowing the user to stop waking the TF with a keyboard press, but I think they forgot to disable it for the trackpad. That means the dock is still drawing more power than necessary even in this power saving state since it has to always "listen" for a touch to the trackpad.
Fail Asus for such an obvious miss.

You can keep an eye on it online at the support website with your RMA number. Mine took about 7 days there, plus shipping and weekends it took a total of 14 door to door. 6 of the days were waiting for the parts to get there to fix it.

I think this may have to do with general mouse behavior. I use a bluetooth mouse that is always listening for, with our without the keyboard connected. It may not be a total fail, but you can opt to turn off the touchpad (which is what I have done about 99% of the time anyway) and it solves the problem of powering the touchpad and looking for input.

Maybe the title should be renamed Transformer Dock/Keyboard as it's not battery drain for the standalone unit?
