Transferring Non-Amazon Books from ASUS tablet TO a kindle DX

Does anyone know if there is a way to transfer my non-Amazon books from my tablet to the kindle DX with hooking up to a computer? I have the kindle app on my tablet and use it to read my books, but in the summer when I'm reading outside I will have to use my kindle DX so I can see the screen. I don't want to transfer all my books as I don't use the Kindle very often, but I would really like to be able to transfer a book I'm reading when I need to. I haven't figured out a way though.

    Welcome to the forum

Let me see if I understand you correctly...

You have books which you read in the Kindle app on your Asus tablet which you did not get from Amazon?
If that is the case, then I assume you either copied them into the relevant folder on your tablet after downloading them from a website, or you copied them onto your tablet from a PC.

I don't think you will be able to successfully connect your Kindle device to your tablet. As far as installing "non Amazon" books onto your Kindle device from either a PC or by direct "non Amazon" download to your Kindle device, you would need to either ask Amazon if that is possible, or perhaps ask on a Kindle users forum. My guess would be that it won't be possible unless you hack the Kindle device in some way.

Can you do us a favour please & identify which Asus tablet you have in your profile settings? At the moment it shows "Other - Android 2.x" Thanks.

    All the best

You can hook up the kindle to a PC and transfer that way , after you transfer the files from the tablet to the PC . I have done that with PDF files .
All kindles have an Email address you could try to email the files to the Kindle . You can find the address in the Kindle settings . Amazon used to convert files to be readable on the kindles , I do not know if they still do this .

yes. you copy the files (likely .mobi) to your computer (you will have to find them on the tablet - I don't remember where the app stores them, try google) search your tablet with ez file explorer,
then you connect the DX to your computer and copy the files to the Documents folder of the DX

[or you can email them to your DX (at its' address-found in manage my kindle)]
(@Wallydog yes amazon also still does conversions)

EDIT if the kindle app for android can read them the DX can. this only works for nonDRM books. if you bought them from amazon use 'manage my kindle' on amazon's page.

Thanks to Wallydog's & Scott's helpful replies, it would appear that all you need to know is the location of these non Amazon books on your tablet (in the Kindle app) - that file location is listed in the e-reading FAQ thread linked from my signature.
