    Dock keypad not responding

Hi! I've just bought a used TF with a dock one day ago. The guy who sold it to me said he didn't use it much. He also mentioned that the keyboard didn't respond and that it 'needs to be activated'. Both USB ports work, as well as the touchpad, but it doesn't respond to any key press. When I plug it in to power, there's a orange light next to it, but when I installed the Dual battery widget it says 'Dock battery level: 0' and 'Dock last connected: --'
Also, the tablet registers the dock normally. When I want to write something, I either have to disconnect the dock or disable 'use physical keyboard'.
Is there any fix to this? I'm so sad the thing doesn't work properly it's agitating. I wanted it for 2 years and when I finally managed to buy it it doesn't work

I'm new to the forum so please be gentle if I posted something wrong.

Hiya Waister_o1...first thing you should do is update to Wasiter_o1.5
I keed I keed!! The fourth button from the left--top row--it will toggle the keypad on/off...but I don't think it does the keyboard. I'm not sure what he meant by 'needs to be activated'. Never heard that one. When docked, if you go to type something do you see a wee keyboard symbol appear at the bottom? If so, click it and see if a keyboard is chosen...perhaps that's what you meant by use physical keyboard. (I'm on the tf 201 and not sure if the options are exactly the same....)

I'd try a cold boot. You'll find this term mentioned alot around the boards as it cures many little niggles that pop up...basically it blows the leaves out of the gutters without harming any of your info/files. As the instructions say, do it with your tablet docked & unplugged. I'm not sure if the lad you bought it from reset it to factory? That is another option...but we'll try this first. You posted just fine....let us know how it works out, k? Cheers.

    Welcome to the forum

Essentially, the dock & tablet keyboard "should just work"

It looks to me as if you might have bought something second hand that is already faulty

The only things I can suggest are (do them both docked)
    1. Try a cold boot (see the link in my signature for how to do this)
    2. If that doesn't help, try a full Factory Reset - there is a guide on that linked from the Master Help Guide (linked in my signature)

Good luck & let us know how you get on.

    Thanks guys
I already tried Factory reset and got nothing. Physical keyboard is enabled, so that's not the problem. I`ll try cold boot but I fear it's gonna be a hardware fault. Should I try to disassemble it and give it an inside look if all else fails? Since I didn't get warranty

Yah if a factory reset didn't do it, I doubt a cold boot will. (goodonya for taking the factory reset though)
I don't know all that much about 'cracking stuff open', but apparently there are a couple cables inside the dock...could be one has come loose. Happened before.

Seems like the guy who sold it to me lied. Dock was opened before and one bolt is even broken. It's a mess inside, like he'd been eating on it. I guess the only option is to buy a new one :-(
