Tablet keeps shutting down, no solution except wakelock

    Hey guys,

So I've had my transformer for just under a year, and when I got it it was running ICS.

I had this problem where the tablet kept shutting down / rebooting randomly. There were no updates to this day, and the only solution I could find was an app called wakelock, which I kept the cpu running even when the screen was off. This solved the problem but it lowered my battery life.

Yesterday I finally rooted the tablet and am running cyanogenmod 10. I expected this reboot issue to go away, but I still have it.

I hate relying on wakelock as it kills my battery, is there no other solution??

    Thanks in advance,

    Mike

    Welcome aboard Mike

I would guess that it's one of the apps you have installed. Finding out which one may tale some serious detective work. You might want to start with installing OS Monitor and see what information you get from it. Also when the tablet is off the battery chart should tell you what is active but you would still need to narrow it down. Make certain all your apps are totally up-to-date as well.

    Thanks,

So I did try this before the root. I wiped everything and ran the tablet using only the stock apps that came with the tablet, and still encountered the problem. So I am fairly sure it is not an application issue...

    Could it be anything else?

There is one other possibility. This has happened to people when they didn't have an optimal WiFi connection. It would hurt to check the WiFi link below and go through the various options in that thread to see if it makes a difference.

Just tried out that software, its awesome!

So the channel im on is terrible, im going to change that asap, but I have another issue.

For most of the day I am at school and the problem occurs there too...
There are multiple repeaters/access points with the same SSID, is it possible to choose the one with the best connection? Im pretty sure sometimes it connects to an AP which is not optimal...

That can be a problem because Android wants to seek out connections and connect automatically. The only thing I can think of for that problem is to manually delete the connections you don't want. That's a really tough problem. You also may want to try fixed IP and DNS for the best connection and see if that helps.

Exclamation The fix for random reboots and video freezes

Go into your settings, Developer Options, once inside set the slider in the upper right corner to ON, then scroll down under the Drawing section and enable "FORCE GPU RENDERING". Should fix the problem.
