TRANSFORMER FORUMS LEGEND
Welcome to the forum!
Charging via USB, well, it really does not. It will not show charging, and it will charge slowly (3% per hour or so) via USB.
The wall wart uses 15 VDC instead of the standard 5 VDC for USB to charge quicker.

Thank you for quick response - I tried it all. The original plug (15V) works for other USB devices, still not charging though.
also Charged from PC for the whole night (just to be sure) but no luck

oh and in case it helps the case, I am using UK plug, the one with 3 prongs...
Or perhaps someone could tell me how I could open the dreaded thing up

HELP, can't switch on or charge
It should still have a small arrow on the plug face to show which direction to slide it to take it apart

pretty good place to see how to tear it down... Cracking Open the Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101 | TechRepublic
I would actually try to see if you can get a new plug to try out (maybe try one at a local shop, the TF300 and 700 should use the same plug). Most phones and other tech only use 5v and the TF wall wart can output either, if they get too hot, it will trip out the 15V end and only allow 5V. You can try putting the wall wart in a ziploc bag and then in the freezer for a couple of hours and see if it starts to work with the tablet again before going through tearing it apart too.

Yep, I opened the plug, adjusted the contacts... tested with the buzzer - it works, the tablet still won't charge.
Thanks Bfmetcalf for link on dis-assembly, will give it a go, maybe some contacts came loose

Its is possible that in your low use of the device, the batteries might have flattened to a stage where they need reviving. I would have a read through the battery & charging guide thread linked from the Master Help Guide linked in my signature.
Additionally, try connecting your tablet only to either a low power adapter - 5v/500ma or a powered on PC USB port for 24 hours. The long, slow trickle charge has been known to revive the battery to a point where it will then accept a charge from the normal Asus wall charger.
