    TF101 lost forever????

Alright... New to the board but not to Android devices. I recently aquired an Asus TF101... LOVE the thing, the problem was (I got it for free) that it worked, but the power button did NOT work (Part # 60-OK06DT2000-C) because the Daughter Board for the volume rocker and power button was screwed up, the spring was out of the button for the POWER... so I ordered the part from asusparts.eu and six weeks later got it to my house in Ohio from Sweden. So, the tablet has been without power (not turned on) for 4-5 months (I know it works becuase I used to use it often when it would never turn off) and so I just install my DB today but I get nothing... The only ribbon cable I disconnected WAS the thin cable for the power board I installed, nothing else was disconnected. When I plug the charger into the bottom of the tablet, I get zero response via usb or wall outlet chargers. The tablet wont turn on, wont even charge. Could it be that, since the battery was dead for so long (few months), the tablet is completely discharged and if so how do I make it work again?

    Welcome to the forum, svavrek.

You might try plugging it into the USB port on a PC or laptop for a few hours.

It's been know to wake up batteries.

I would try plugging it into a computer's USB port overnight, sometimes trickle charging the battery can spring it to life.

You could try leaving it plugged into a USB (5 volt) charging source for a several hours (overnight), as that sometimes seems revive a unit that's been fully discharged - but there is also the possibility that being left for a few months in a discharged state has permanently damaged the battery and you may get very much less than 8 hours of battery life now, even if you can get the TF going again.

Don't tell me this isn't a great forum! A Moderator, a Rescue Squad(er), and a forum member all came to the rescue with the same suggestion, just about simultaneously, 7:13, 7:14, and 7:15 PM! Now, that's what I call service!

Yup. It WORKED... 2 hours and the tablet boots up but the battery is weak as can be. It turns on now and battery is at 1% and stays on for 1-2 mins then shuts off... Im going to leave it plugged into the PC overnight and see what comes of it... if I can get away w/ a 49$ circuit board and a new battery I'll be pretty happy.

Well, left it plugged into the PC USB overnight and the battery is only at 21%. I am going to try to reboot into recovery see if I can wipe battery data and leave it plugged in all day while @ work. As far as the tablet goes though, when I DO have the charger plugged in, it still tells me to plug in the charger, even though its in... I think the battery or cable maybe fried, so I have to find someone w/ a cable now and test that I suppose...

I also read that powering off the tablet while charging it via a PC helps speeding up (a bit) the charging.
