I can not see anything. Only the backlight turns on

    Hi,
I just bought a tablet of eBay (I know hate me ect ect) I was told it is in working order and the guy seemed genuine and sooo but hey.

Anyway I just got it, pressed the power button and only the back light comes on. No Images come up on the screen. HOWEVER There seems to be one dead pixel in the screen. Doesnt this mean it is trying to show something. Could this be an indication that it has been dropped?

I have rooted androids before so if a new rom is an opition, you are going to have to point me to the right places. That would be great

EDIT: I just spoke to asus and they said they can repair it. However I would like to try and fix it myself

Have you tried a Hard Reset: ( as per MickeyLittle at another thread):

==> NO DATA LOSS WITH THIS!

"Unplug the power cord and shut the unit off and Press and Hold the power button and the DOWN volume button together for 6-10 seconds and let them both go. You should see a little shape in the middle of the screen so just press and release the Down volume button again and let it reboot. If you own the dock be sure and do this with the dock connected. "

If that does not work try a Factory Reset? Be aware a factory reset dumps all data and apps installed. Puts the unit back to original state.

    Factory Reset - http://www.transformerforums.com/for...ata-reset.html

You should be able to get at Factory Reset via seeing the Transformers Screen on your TV?

Hi thanks for the reply. I was told to do that by the women by asus. It did not help sadly. With the factory reset the person who sent it did it before they shipped the pad. So it already was when I received it.
They want me to ship it is the Czech republic! REALLY?

If the tablet had been dropped , like I did with mine, there is a video cable that can come lose. Had to open my tablet and push it back in place. Google it, found some good help on the xdadeveloper forum site.

When you open up the Transformer you really gotta know what you are doing. You could cause further problems. I would just send it in and have Asus fix it. About sending the TF to the Czech Republic for repair, I don't know what country you are in, Jonny, but maybe call Asus again and confirm where you need to send it. Good Luck!!

Hi, hmmm that could be the cause. If I opened it and didnt fix it would it be obivious to the proper repair guys if I did open it? I know that is a stupid question but hey :L haha.
I am in the UK sooo. I will do on Monday to confirm everything.

Can you confirm that your Backlight still turned on as well?

Why waste any more time then you have to on this problem? You bought it from Ebay. If listing says it is in working condition but not when you get it, then return it. Get your money back. If the seller wont accept it back, then report them to Ebay/Paypal for your money back.

No use asking about rooting either, because if the screen doesnt come on now, it wont with it rooted.

It is almost certainly the loose video cable mentioned earlier

Not sure if the OP got help for his issue but I certainly did. Thank you for tuning me in to the fact that after a drop this behavior can be caused by a loose video cable. I had the exact same issue and it was driving me crazy, I couldn't even turn it off until the OP alerted me to the HDMI working. I cracked the case and problem is solved. It's not too hard to open the TF if you have a micro precision set and are careful.

The video cable is a black one next to the battery under tape. THANK YOU ALL.
