    Couldn't Connect to Server -- Live/Hotmail Email Won't connect

    Coundn't Connect to Server -- Live/Hotmail Email Won't connect

My TF101/32GB is now unable to connect to my live.com/Hotmail account. For no apparent reason it will not/cannot conect to the server for purpose of updating my email through the generic application on the Tablet. I have had this unit for about 4 weeks and it has worked like a champ. I have not made any drastic additions to apps nor have I adjusted the set-up. I have deleted my email account three times, reinstalled the account, only to have it work for just a few hours/days and then be disabled. Is this is a Google v. Microsoft thing?

Let me add that I have the same problem at two different office/home routers. I can browse the Interent and I can access the LIVE email from the browser - I just can't access the email throught the Email App on the TF101. It worked for the first few weeks and now it doesn't.

Welcome to the forum Tim, glad you decided to join us.

Can you access your account in a web browser? I have had issues with my Yahoo! and Hotmail accounts where they were suspected of being hacked/used for spam where I had to log in to a web browser to change my password and get them working again.

If that is not the issue then my suggestion is to remove the account (Settings - Accounts & Sync - Hotmail Account - 3 dots in the top right - Remove account)

Then add the account back (using automatic settings).

Thanks Frederuco -- Indeed I can still access the Hotmail account anywhere (computer and tablet) using any browser. I Just can't set-up the account in the ASUS Tablet "EMAIL" app and make it stable. It works for a little while and then it the tablet say "Couldn't Connect to the Server." The browser app on the Tablet can connect to the Hotmail account but I was hoping to use the EMAIL App that is prominently and annoying deadcenter on my tablet home page. Odd thing is I had reset my email account twice, and it worked for a few days/hours. Eventually it stopped connecting/syncing to my Hotmail account. I am thinking a Firmware upgrade or some other app is creating a conflict --- I am just stumped. Thanks for your help.

    That is quite strange.

I got fed up with the stock Email and GMail apps and their lack of some functions (Email has no search, neither has a select all, you cannot change the account you are sending from, unable to share/print emails).

I tried numerous email clients over the past year, and finally around January I found Kaiten. It is made by one of the developers of K-9 (Get it, K-10) and is a tablet version. It offers split screen like the stock apps, it has select all, when sending an email you can choose the send from account (even when using the share command from another app - this is where the stock apps are a huge fail). When sending an email you can scroll through your contact list (no multi-select, but still better than trying to remember everyone to send something to). Select All (Good for emptying the trash). Share function (to allow you to print emails) and lots more.

Yeah, it is $5, but IMO it is well worth it.

The only flaws I have found with Kaiten is that it does not have Exchange 2010 support yet (but I do not have any Ex2010 accounts) and that there is not an easy way to get an email full screen unless you go to settings and change the split screen setting.

Since three days, I have the same problem. I'm gonna try Kaiten. See if that fixes the problem.

    and me...

    Mine is stuffed also.

I have multiple hotmail accounts. Some .co.uk and some .com

One of my.coms works fine, can be set up as exchange and using wizard. The other doesnt work at all.

I cleared the cash on my tf101 stock email and still no joy.

I have a galaxy note and the account that DOESNT work on the TF works FINE on the g-note.

Me thinks microsoft / hotmail is up to something.

    Something isnt right.

    Started about a week ago.

I'm with you guys -- what's going on here smells like a planned/purposeful incompatibility. Interesting that Mirkiov's issue started within about 24 hours of my problem.

I am accessing Hotmail through the browser but have not tried to install.link the Hotmail account to home page email app. I would surelove to figure this out -- but the Android operating system has very few ways to goof this up -- hence very few ways to fix it.
