HDMI problem - device not detected

When i connect my TF201 to my Sony Bravia 32" TV and try to have it detected by the TV software it doesn't detect it. Cable is new. Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the forum PrimeFocus

It may be a matter of changing the input on the TV as some, (most), sets don't automatically switch the input.

    Great point Lee!

My Sony has multiple HDMI inputs, and changing the input to the one aligned with the cable connection works very well.

You might wanna look at this thread because on the Primes quite a few of us have had the HDMI port actually come loose from the motherboard. Prime HDMI Success

When you plug the cable into your Prime if you don't see HDMI in your notification area there is a good chance yours is loose too.

Thanks for the tip - will need to check how to change the input (by which do you mean the video type or the resolution, or both?) I have 4 HDMI input slots on the Bravia and have tried the cable in all four with no result.

Seems to recognise the cable at the Prime end- the tablet screen blanks out when I connect the cable and reappears when I disconnect.

Still sounds like the input needs to be changed at the Bravia. There had been reports in the past of some sets not working with the HDMI output from the TF, but that was supposed to have been corrected.

Thanks for the info. Still trying to find out how to change the Bravia input manually - so far, all I read suggests the software on the TV automatically detects which input is being used.

Automatically switching inputs is usually reserved for external devices like DVD players made by the same company using a proprietary "sync" technology. Connecting a device made by another manufacturer would normally require a manual change. You remote control should have an input button that does that.
