    Screen blanking and flashing problem

I purchased a tf101 s/n b90kasxxxxxx off ebay from an individual that bought and rarely used the unit. He updated it to ICS us_epad-9.2.1.21-20120413. He did a factory reset and sent it to me. When I got it I went through the initial setup and progressed to the desktop where the screen went blank a split second after showing the desktop. I realized after working with the unit that it was still on only that the screen was blanked. I would press the power button, like I do for my phone to get it to turn on but the desktop would only show for a split second. I then pressed the power button like I wanted to power down the unit and the screen stayed on only for the screen to blank again once I hit cancel for the shut down. I found that once I got the screen to display via the power down, I could select the wifi icon in the lower right corner and bring up the setting screen which would display. Then I tried and had success with just tapping on the screen where I thought the buttons were on the desktop when the screen was blank to activate programs ie youtube which the display worked. While playing around with the unit randomly the screen would start flickering. To make a long story short...Are the issues I have described a software ie ICS or do I have a broken unit? Also will I get any support from Asus since the unit is second hand?
    Thanks

I performed a factory reset as well as a hard reset (power and volume down buttons until the white text and pressed the up volume button...saw the android laying down w/ the red triangle...then booted up). Also I tried the solution:

    But nothing has changed.

    Quick fix

Yes, this has been an issue with the latest Ice Cream Sandwich updates for the OG Transformer. The most recent update has reduced this problem, but not much. The quickest fix without shutting down:

    1. Tap the notification area on the bottom right of the screen
    2. Navigate to Settings (You may have to tap the slider icon depending on your setup)
    3. When the Settings page comes up, click on Apps
    4. Press on the "ALL" tab at the top
    5. Scroll all the way down and click on "Launcher"
    6. Click on the "Force stop" button
    7. Press your home button on the bottom left of your screen

I'm not quite sure when Asus will be putting out an update to fix this problem, I actually came here to find out and saw your post.

I tried that solution using version .11 ICS and HC but had no effect.
    Thanks

Cool Force stopping the launcher worked for me

Thanks for the tip on force stopping the launcher.
It works for me with ICS 4.0.3.
Not a fix but at least I don't need to reboot if it occurs.

This works for me for a while, but chrome seems to cause it to occur more often, even after the chrome update. And I am running 4.0.3. I'll notice my screen flicker with the brightness randomly changing if its or not.
