So, I was reading the guide to 'reading" on here...

I can't even figure out how to get the kindle app on this thing, much less download books.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh dear. Never mind, help is at hand

First of all, the Kindle app is already on your tablet. It comes as standard. All you need to do is visit the Play Store (used to be called "Market") via the app on your tablet (its in your app drawer), search for the Amazon Kindle app and make sure it is updated (it will need to be).

Secondly, let me suggest working your way through the links in my signature - especially the Android Guides link . The learning curve will soon level out if you do this & you'll feel like an expert

Always feel free to ask - there are NO stupid questions, OK Post here & I'll normally reply within 36 hours, & others may help too.

    Hope this helps.

Also, I should point out that it is called "Amazon Kindle" and not "Kindle".

    More book issues...

More book issues... my kindle app, and I downloaded a whole bunch of free books.

I also did some searching around here, and found a website called project gutenberg, and i tried downloading a bunch of books from there as well.

I can't figure out how to view any books I downloaded from project gutenberg. I even downloaded the "kindle version" and they don't show up.

Additionally, I bought this tablet second hand. It came with a bunch of books on it already, but I can't figure out how to view them in any other way than using My Library.

Can anybody help me view all the books in Kindle? Cananybody help me figure out how to download books that aren't from Kindle?

    TIA

    krunchyfrog -

I have merged your two "reading" threads together. There was no need for two.

A while back, I also replied to your thread http://www.transformerforums.com/for...eeds-help.html

I think if you follow the suggestions given already, you will be able to do what you want to do.
The e-reading FAQ already provides a step by step guide to how to get books into the Kindle app from other sources (sideloading) & also how to use epub files in more general e-readers such as Aldiko.

If you don't take the time to read the Android Guides & follow the "how to" e-reading guide, then there isn't much more we can offer. Please try those steps first.

Good luck - we are here to help where we can, but we cannot do more than has already been published as that information explains everything you have asked, already

For those folks who like choices...there's a Nook app for your Android tablet as well. Both the Kindle and Nook apps work quite well on the Transformer tablet.
