Upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich now?

Hi everyone, I've poked around but didn't find anything on this particular issue yet, but please forgive me if there's another thread somewhere that addresses this.

That being said, I recently got a refurb Tf101 at a really good price and traded in my old Archos 70. I have to say, Honeycomb is a huge improvement over Froyo on tablets. I gather that there have been several issues with ICS, or perhaps more accurately, Asus's implementation on the TF101. But, I also know that there has been a recent update which may (or may not) have fixed a lot of the ICS issues.

I guess my question is, should I upgrade? Should I wait? Are there any cool features of ICS that might outweigh the risk? At this point I'm tempted to hold off and keep Honeycomb for now, but I wanted to ask some of the more experienced users what they think.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

    Welcome Richled

I have a link below on preparing for the upgrade to ICS. I suggest you check it out then go for it. ICS is quicker and generally nicer all the way around. Enjoy.

I would definitely go for the upgrade. ICS is so much faster and smoother and it is worth the risk IMO.

When it is new is the best time to do it. Most users who have had ICS issues have been able to fix it by backing up their apps and data and then doing no less than three (3) factory data resets in a row (some reason three is better than one for these). If your tablet is new, you probably do not have much data to back up.

One of our mods here was cursing ICS as it was not a good experience. We all told him to backup and factory reset. He finally bit the bullet and did it. I think it took him about 4 hours (he had something crazy like 500+ apps to backup). Now he will not shut up about how awesome ICS is.

I think it is well worth the risk as I estimate only less than 5% of the forum users have had ICS issues, and probably 1-2% of total users with ICS.
