    Replacement?

Finally got a response back from asus tonight about my issues with the update and they told me to do a factory reset, which seemed to fix the reboot issue, but still seem to have the battery draining faster than normal. They told me if that didn't work that I could fill out a form and request a RMA/replacement order. My mom want me to check with others if I should go ahead and do that and if anyone knows if it would be a refurb replacement or an unopened box? Thanks

My guess it would be a refurb but you can ask them.

Its most likely that it will be the same unit, opened and parts replaced. Asus Is very unlikely to replace the unit, Ive sent my original eee pad to RMA 3 times and each time it comes back more creakier than the last (not happy), still waiting for it to arrive back hoping they dont send me back a brick like last time.
    Good luck with it!

Maybe I'll just stick with this one. I don't want to play around with having to send it back three times.

I would hang on to it for a bit if I were you. When the tf101 came out first, it took around 3-4 months for the HC OS to get updated to the stable reliable system that it ended up as. I am certain that by the end of May we will have had 2 or 3 further firmware updates that will turn ICS into the fast & stable OS that it is capable of being.

I really doubt that you or your mom should worry at this point. I also decided to Factory Reset yesterday. Did it three times in a row just to be extra diligent. Restored my apps - fiddled about with one or two, uninstalled & reinstalled a couple & off I went again. Took a couple hours probably. I didn't really have any big issues, but with a major OS change I finally decided to take the time to give my tf101 a good foundation for ICS going forwards.

    Hope this helps
