Transformer improperly doing a full shutdown from sleep mode

So I have a strange problem with my Transformer.

It's an intermittent problem which is that sometimes I can go two days without turning the Asus off, just going into sleep mode, and other times, it just goes into full shut down after a meagre hour.

This is independent of the battery life. It has happened on a full charge and a low charge.

Clearly it's annoying and I don't know if it is an Asus thing, and Android thing, or a bad app, or I just haven't found the right setting.

I've done a little experiment and it would appear that while the Wifi is ON, (even if it isn't connected to anything), sleep mode will stay sleep mode, and the machine will simply tick along for a few days without turning off or needing a charge.

If I turn the Wifi OFF, then after about an hour of sleep mode, the machine will perform a full shut down and I will have to hold the power button almost as if to do a reset and then it boots up.

I'm looking for a better solution than simply leaving the wifi on, as that wastes battery.

    Any suggestions?

    Anyone else experience this problem?

i had the Acer iconia tab before i got my eee pad and that would shut off on its own sometimes when i put it to sleep so maybe its just and production error.

Could be a software issue as this has also been an issue with XOOMs. Lets hope an update fixes it.

    I get the same thing.

What would be nice is having the ability to adjust the timeout on the auto-shutdown function, including the ability to turn it off all together.

FWIW, leaving the WIFI on is not enough, it has to be connected

I've had the tablet for a week now and it happened to me once when I was trying to download something. It just died and I had to do a hard restart.

This is happening to me too. From a long sleep of hours it shuts itself off and is difficult to turn on.

I am cause I had my cloud installed- HRI66.US_epad-8.2.3.6-20110414--- I had my xoom for over a month before returning and it didn't shut down by itself until the battery was low.
