    power button

My power button worked sporadically ever since I got my tablet but now the only way to turn my tablet on is to plug it in. I try pressing it quickly, then hold a little, then maybe a little longer, then longer, finally I've tried holding it for 30 seconds, nothing. It works flawlessly when locking and unlocking the tablet but it doesn't respond when it off. Is there a software fix or is this a hardware issue?

Looking at this, and your other post about the lag I'd say you need to do a hard reset at the least. I think you have an app that is hing up and could be causing both problems. Instructions in the link below.

Lee, not sure if the OP can do a hard reset if the power button is not working.

It does sound like a software issue. I have 2 suggestions:

Number 1 - Run the battery completely flat on the tablet. (Do this undocked if you have the dock). Recharge it and see if it still does it.

Number 2 - Back up your apps using App Backup. (I suggest doing Apps & Data) and then backup any other files that you need (Photos, Movies, Music, Documents, Downloads, etc) in the /sdcard/ folder. Then do a factory reset (Backup & Restore - Factory data reset). See if the device still does it when it is fresh from a wipe. If it does, then it is either a hardware or software issue that needs to be RMA'd. If it does not do it, one of your apps is probably fighting with it when it is off somehow...

Fred, you got me on that. I was thinking more about the other most while looking at this one.
