    Email suddenly not working

I've been accessing my email perfectly for days now, but suddenly I'm getting an error message. It's super-long, but goes something like: java.security.cert.certpath validator exception trust not anchored, or somesuch. I've googled this, naturally, but all I see are tips to go "rooting around," which I have no intentions of doing. I tried deleting and reinstalling the account, but this didn't work. Why woud this suddenly be an issue, and is there a fix? Do I need to install a new email client?

Could be a problem with your email provider...could be their security certificate has expired or some such thing. If you can wait this out a day or so, it may start working again. If not, call your email provider ... of course, good luck reaching them, if it is a free service. You can try Googling for your email provider's name and the error message.

I pay out the NOSE for my email provider, lol, so they'll pony up with the answer if I call. Thanks for the reply. For some reason, it didn't even occur to me that they could be the problem. At least I can still access that mail directly via the web, but I prefer the cool desktop access and snazzy alerts.

Update: Tedr, you were right! Cox is changing its pop and smtp names to make things easier. I installed K9, and that program explained the problem (native app, you could learn a lesson!) and gave me the option to ignore the issue. Woo-hoo! Thanks for the help.
