Streaming video over SMB cuts after 15 mins

I've got a peculiar problem that doesn't seem to be affecting others.

When I stream video over SMB from another box in my house, I'm seeing the video end after ~15 mins.
Since I've not found a video player that supports SMB natively, I'm firing up an SMB-enabled fine manager, browsing to a share, picking an avi, then selecting the video player to launch.

I've got ES File Explorer, File Expert and Astro for file management.
I've got MoboPlayer and RockPlayer for videos.
I couldn't guess at which combinations I've tried.

I'm running an unrooted B70 TF101 and connecting to a desktop running Linux Mint 12.

My only guess so far is that the file manager app that has the handle on the file is being "cleaned up" since its no longer active, but I've got nothing to support that, or any ideas on what to do about it if I could.

If anyone's got any combos that work for them, I'd be really glad to hear them.
Failing that, could I have missed some power saving or garbage collection setting somewhere?

Maybe it's he fact that your DHCP server in your router is releasing your IP adress? That's the only thing I could come up with...

I gave up on streaming via movieplayers. I use MyCloud now to open a remote desktop and watch movies on my PC.

I'm guessing you know your Mint isn't going to sleep on you? Some sort of power management could get in the way. But the IP lease is also a good idea to look at.

The Mint box is a file server for the whole house - it's not got any power saving configured.
The DHCP leases are 24 hour and I've hit the same snag twice in an hour.

Maybe the best test would be to recreate it and check the logs in aLogCat? Would an app cleanup be logged?

I guess it's also possible that a large enough chunk of the file is being cached locally and no data is being requested so the Mint box is closing the connection, and so its gone the next time the TF goes for it. That timeout will surely configurable. That'd be logs again, I guess...
