    Question Lost my + Sign

    Hi Forum,

I'm very new to my device, just got it 2 days ago. The Asus user guide doesn't tell very much, so I found this forum through Google, and joined. Awesome. Now I can learn things.

While trying to get my desktop set up nicely, I noticed that the + sign in the upper right corner, which was there when I started (but I didn't know what it was for), has disappeared, and now that I have a small clue what to do with it, it's disappeared, and I don't know how to get it back. Any ideas?

I think I'll be spending a lot of time here, reading all the posts, so I can learn to make the most of this new toy.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the welcome

I'll have to say NO to the different launchers.... because I don't know what they are As I said, I'm new to this. So, I just googled what a Launcher is... sounds very cool. So, now I know for sure, I didn't install one.

The first thing to try when things don't work is a power down, if that does not work the next is a cold boot.

    Cold Boot
    Remover charger
    Power down
Hold power down and volume down buttons.
When text appears in upper left corner release both
    Wait while the TF reboots

Well the cold boot worked (thanks for that, didn't know how to do that either). But still no + sign. I have found work arounds for things, maybe it's the version of software? I've found that if I just go to the apps area, and press on an app long enough, it'll vibrate, and pop up a short cut on my desktop anyway. Which is what I thought the + sign was for.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to view my contacts. There seems to be no contact app in my collection. But I'll try to research that too before I have to ask the question.
    thanks.

never heard of losing the + sign before, but long-pressing a blank space on the home screen takes you to the same place! Hey, do you have the TF 101 or the Prime? Actually, just long-pressing an app usually doesn't put it on the home screen, you have to swipe it on one of you home screens, which is either on top or below the apps list. There should be an app called "Contacts."

wow, makes me wonder if I got an Asus Prime case with some other tablet's brain inside
I've got the Transformer TF 201 64GB. Definitely no app called Contacts... that's what I was expecting to find. If it's actually called "CONTACTS", my last C app is Clock, and the very next app is Dolphin Browser. And if I long hold any app... it jumps to the home screen, where I can place it within the grid, then let go, and it stays. if I long press anywhere on a blank part of the screen, all that pops open is wallpaper choices. My Android version is 4.0.3 (if that helps). My Gmail account shows sync is ON for every option.
It's weird. But thanks for your help

On ICS "contacts" was changed to "people". Gets a little confusing for those who are still on Honeycomb.

This thread should probably be moved to the Prime section. I don't think ICS has the + sign. If you upgraded your firmware, that may be where it went to...

Ah-h-h-h, the mystery is unfolding! I guess when we're all updated to ICS, we're all going to be in the same boat.
