    TF101 - Skype freezing / connection drops

Hi All. I am running V8.6.5.21 on a TF101 and i am having the weird issue that skype video and audio calls freeze after 30 secs or so. First the screen goes black (and i can only see myself on the small window) but there is still audio, after 10-20 additional seconds audio is gone too and I appear offline to the receiving party. I am on wifi btw.

First i thought it might had to do with a router setting or policy but iam able to make videocalls on my HTC Desire HD with no problem what so ever. Anyone else having the same problem or is my hardware failing? I dont experience any connectiondrops on wifi when streaming video or music, its just Skype that is giving problems.

I tried a hard reset and restored factory settings but the problem remains. Suggestions anyone?

    I would...

    1. Reinstall Skype
    2. Skype from another WiFi Network
    3. No idea

Not too sure, but my Skype has been acting strange as well. I can do video calls, but after a short time, Skype just closes... no force close, no nothing - the screen just goes black and kicks me out to the home screen. It is slightly frustrating as I am overseas at the moment and skype is my lifeline home. Did I mention that DAMN I MISS MY WIFE.

Anyway, since the last Skype update, this has been randomly ocuring. Mostly just frustrating and I am able to reconnect - except for the occasional time when it completely reboots the TF itself...

@ terramishu tried reinstalling, hard reset etc.

Skype IS working from my HTC Desire using the same wifi spot. Must be either the latest skype update or the TF101.

    @ Outlaw7
I havent had hard crashes to desktop, just freezes and hickups. The image is also quite pixelated where Skype used to work flawless. It works for 30 secs then hangs. Very frustrating.
I also use Skype to contact the Misses, (and my daughter) so i am quite despererate in finding a fix.

With all the updates to prepare for ICS they may have broken something in HC.

Same issue here, just as you described. We are using a Asus eee transformer.
In the transformer's side it seems just a call drop. In the mac side the person goes offline and then reconnect.

@dpetry, Welcome to the forum Thank you for searching for a specific thread and posting there first

With all these app specific and wifi point specific and "person receiving the call" specific issues, must be your friend.

There are so many variables, that it is virtually impossible to give advice that is likely to be helpful. There are several threads here about Skype. I suggest...
    # Reading through all of them.
    # Rebooting/ hard resetting your device.
    # Re-installing the Skype app.
    # Contacting Skype directly.
    # Trying Google+ or some other video chat facility

Not much help, but I tried

The issue is Skype has not been optimized for the TF. If you check the Skype website they list the devices that are compatible.
