    WiFi speed of TF101

I'm just wondering what speeds other people have been getting with WiFi on their Transformers.

I've been noticing videos lagging when streaming, and tried running Speedtest, and notice, actually, that both my iPhone 4 and my Transformer are significantly slower than my PCs, when connecting to my E4200.

I've got 5 Mbps for my Internet connection, at the max. My PC regularly gets readings of 4.75 Mbps down.

My iPhone gets between 1.8 to 2.3 Mbps. The fastest I've tested my Transformer at is 3 Mbps. Is that normal?

Really depends on you connection. 5 down from isp is not much. Reboot your cable modem and see if it is qny better. I'm doing 22 down 1.8 up. I've even been as high as 32 down.

I have 12 down 1.5 up, on my iPhone I just got 10.5 down, 1.25 up, Transformer was 11 down and 1.4 up, PC was 10.75 down and 11.35 up.

I have seen up to 26 Mbps down and 13 up on my iPhone and also my TF using my 4G hotspot.

It is the same on my Laptop or TF-101, is there any reason it should not be the same?

It is not an early Prime

In theory, whether laptop or Transformer, one would think speeds should be the same...but they don't appear to be. My iPhone and Transformer seem consistently slower. Do they have weaker antenna, to preserve battery life? I never tried measuring this before.

As to a max of 5 Mbps, that's normal..all the ISP's in my neighbourhood say that's all the lines allow. It's a new street, built in '04 so I'm surprised there's not more capacity, but they insist it's all I can get. Unless I switch to cable I guess, and that's crazy expensive in Canada. Not sure what rates are like in the U.S.....here in Canada, you seem to be able to either choose good bandwidth (unlimited) or good speed, but not both. I've got unlimited, but if I switched to something faster, I'd be looking at between $60-100/month for Internet, with speeds ranging from 24 Mbps to 50 Mbps.

5 Mbps is much slower than wireless G however......so, given the E4200 is a high speed N router, and when I move files between two PCs with my network, I get speeds of almost 70 Mbps, I would *think* I should be getting better than 2.3 Mbps pulling files down from the Internet via the iPhone and Transformer.

I did some more testing tonight.....hooked up to the router at work. My access there is 6 Mbps and the Transformer was getting 5.8 Mbps. At home I'm still getting 2.7 Mbps even though the Windows PCs connected to the same router is getting 4.33.

Could there be a setting in the router that would have mobile devices getting sub-optimal speeds even when it's giving full speeds to the PCs?

I am not aware of any routers or settings that would do this.
