It does work with N but it has to be at 2.4GHz, not 5GHz. Check the router, it might have options to switch frequencies, that's what I did (mine supports both G and N at the same time at 2.4 at 5 GHz or N by itself on 2.4 GHz).

Unfortunately it seems both G and N are pretty much the same, works fine 10 feet away from router, barely works just a little bit further (as in unusable for e.g. watching videos).

Encryption is set on your router settings, not on the devices connected to it.
If you log on to your router via it's IP adress (mostly something like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) you can change the encryption under your wireless settings. Don't forget to reconnect your wifi devices with the new encryption.

MY TP sees the hot spot (my phone) and just says obtaining IP. wont connect. My laptop connects to phone jsut fine. I read something about the TP not using ad hoc? Is there a work around?

My TF101 was great... until I was "forced" to upgrade...
Then, like OSUBeavers, I had good signal strength but no connection.

Did the Cold Start, (#6 from leeshor)... that worked the 2nd time.
1st time I didn't hold the vol. & power button long enough.

Thanks for this post. I tried everything, but could not get past "Obtaining IP". But, I was able to connect to open wifi at a local restaurant.

I then went and bought a new router and then the tablet was working nicely at home. Before, I was using an old Microsoft G Router.

    Thanks!!

So I must remember to phone ahead to the hotels I visit and ask them to replace their routers prior to my arrival???? All because I bought a TFP201, Wow I can see that happening!!!!

Can someone tell me why a brand new acer netbook never has a problem yet the prime almost always fails to connect, why does the router firmware (need updating) cause a problen for the prime to lock onto a free ip??

Helpful info. Thanks. But, what does "rooted" mean?
